I have worked with Dementia for 18 years. I'm now 36. If you are reading this, it is important you understand that everything he is saying has truth to it. Often, you will notice a loved one misplacing objects, being disoriented to time, place, surroundings. Change in diet, behaviour changes including depression. The biggest mistake I have noticed in my short life, is anxiety is very often the root cause of the Dementia being 10x worse. For example: someone being repetative, is often described as "they keep asking the same question over and over again". This requires reassurance. If you treat the anxiety, it often assists in managing the Dementia. Sedatives is not the answer, finding the cause of the change in behaviour is. Although where dangerous behaviour occurs, I do agree in safeguarding the person and they should be considered.
