Demi Fiend cheese strategy in Shin Megami Tensei V with live chat on. Basically have your entire stock have the repel or drain physical skill/trait and then keep switching them out. That's because they scripted the fight to have Demi-Fiend use a physical skill on the new demon that just got switched in. If that demon has drain or repel physical, demi fiend will lose all of its turns.

Strat: Basically have your entire stock have the repel or drain physical skill/trait and then keep switching them out. That's because they scripted the fight to have Demi-Fiend use a physical skill on the new demon that just got switched in. Overall, one of your Normal Mode failed attempt was going so well (Demi-Fiend's health got on the last strech), so... I say the strategy is there, is pretty much only being lucky to not get RNG screwed with the Chaotic Will and potential Critical Hits from the Demons, just maybe have a little bit more of power with those backup Demons to deal a little more damage (not like it will matter much but still...).

This was so wild to see and slowly seeing the strat get figured out and actually working in the end was really satisfying. Here's hoping Normal and Hard are soon to follow, should go a lot smoother after this.

Demi became the thing he sought to exploit in SMT 3 challenge runs, dumb ai. But this is a cool strategy, I am still getting railroaded by him in hard using my own unique team. Now I gotta try this and see if I am worthy of luck and it works me too.

@@thefivespokewheels on hard mode it works, it works incredibly well. BUT you need to have a full squad of demons that are capable of hitting hard to avoid gaea rage, especially when chaotic will steals your turns. The absolute most important part of the fight is having a strong core with something like a shiva that RESISTS phys so you never risk having four immunities out and causing his demons to spam megidolaon. Repel phys is AMAZING but anyone who says it invalidates the fight or anything like that is bullshitting. When i finally optimized my squad to be good enough to win, Im pretty sure that same squad would have a similar chance of winning even if all the repel/drains were swapped out for resists. Stealing his turns is amazing, but at the end of the day you need big damage im actually going to test this now. Im swapping out every single repel/drain phys skill for resist phys on my winning team and im going to see if it's still beatable. I expect to not have too many issues

@@Relisoc Reading this is sooo uplifting, I want to try it too but I’m afraid that I dont know how to get the drain phisical from (I mean what demon has it to add it to my complete party with the esence fusion). Can you help me with that? Do you have any recomendations? It’s my only thing left to do with the game and its getting hard not to get completionist at this point hahaha

Repel/Drain has always been the most broken shit in Megaten i remember doing the repel/drain on low level demons to beat Mem Aleph years ago and it being funny as shit lol

On lower difficulties, it's not so bad. On higher difficulties, good luck surviving 10 turns. Yet I lasted long thanks to Idunn. She's a godsend. We still lost though.

So, do you need a new demon to swap in each time, or can you just have two demons with repel physical and keep switching between those two ? Or is there some kind of in-game turn timer for Demi-fiend to reset his aggro towards a new demon ?

you can also control when he does gaea rage. have to kill any ally demon within 5 turns, and avoid using any any nullifying or reflecting spells, and you won't get hit with Gaea rage.

So the demons that have the passive abilites are Nuwe (Drain) and Abdiel (Repell). How do you get multile of their essences?

@@DengueBurger you have to level them. register them at level 90 or something and buy them againt until they dropp the essence. Use the essence and repeat.

Chaotic will does follow a pattern. I believe it's once at 75% once at 25% and once at 50% if he's already healed. If you only wanna deal with it twice you could try to silence demi before he gets to 50% so he can't use mediarahan, because if he fails it there he'll never use it again. If you have full repel/drain phys then demi will use chaotic will more often and randomly though. You'll also have to kill one of his party members every 6 turns or he'll use gaea rage

So do we have a concrete answer as to what triggers Gaea Rage? Gems seem to set the Demi-Fiend off, but I've used teams strictly consisting of repel phys, resist phys, no affinities, etc. Everything seems to make the Demi-Fiend go apeshit, regardless of difficulty.

From my countless attempts before finally clearing him on normal and getting very close on hard. It appears that you have to kill one of his allies once every four of his push turns with counting when he uses "Call Allies" or "Gaega Rage" as the first turn in the series. If you have not kill one of his allies and forced him to call a new one before or on his fifth turn he'll always use "Gaega Rage" on that turn. Once, I figured this out and started counting his turns. I've never seen him use it unless I screwed-up my count. Be mindful his one 50% health scripted full heal can mess up a potential kill at a bad time, if you're not paying attention. I normally just made sure to kill one or more after his third or fourth turn. Seems it scripted this way so you don't just ignore his allies. Also, using "Mirror Magic" is a no-no as he will always use Gaega right after you do.

this strategy is amazing, but it doesn't invalidate the fight on hard. Which isn't a bad thing! i just have seen people say it makes the fight free and that's just not true. there's three problems: 1. demi-fiend doesnt always attack into the resistance for some reason. There might be a way around this, but even if he did there's other issues. 2. if you end up in a situation where you have four phys immunities on the field, he'll spam almighty, so you always have to play around that 3. Most importantly, you have to meet the dps checks. So either you need to have a core with insanely boosted stats so you can ignore the affinities of the demons he swaps in (like how enel did it) or you need to have a massive arsenal of attackers that can target each element. Basically, having drain phys on everything helps a TON, it's a huge tempo swing. But if you don't spam balms/incenses, you need all those demons to also be able to deal big damage, and you also need at least one resist phys demon on the field at all times, and chaotic will exists.

my cheese was chi you i spammed catastrophe Zeus with his unique keraunos i always swapped him with trumpeter when i had a full magatsu bar to use the freikugel ex and metatron and always used fire of sinai that took me 7 attempts

I dont know why but whenever i switch out a demon he instantly used G. Rage... wiped me out 5 times in a row. Maybe its because i tried using Repel Gems... Repel Gem -> G. Rage. as a punish maybe?

I only got the fiend one and on hard, matadors at 26, Daisoujou at 30 and Hell Biker at 34. Make sure u fuse new demons to exploit their weaknesses and block their attacks :) (other dlcs idk sorry)

How do you get Demi-Fiend in your party? Do you need to beat the game first and *THEN* beat Demi-Fiend? Or do you have to be in New Game Plus? I'm just wondering since I've seen him in someone's party at least once, and I've already beaten him twice (admittedly on Safety) before actually beating the main story.

Now try this method: - Keep cuchulaine alive for the whole fight - Null phys, force, dark Literally all you need. The cuchulaine will only use attacks so you void his turn pretty fast. He'll only end up calling allies right before the magatsuhi is used and then you simply counter with your own to get rid of the 2 other demons right away. It's the same exact way I beat Shiva on hard where I kept Parvati alive for the whole duration. The idea is to pretty much lock the AI into only using specific moves.

He's using the cheese on normal mode and still died. This means the Demons you used for baiting can't be just for defensive, you'll need DPS check even with the cheese on hard mode... So I think the dev has intention on that and let the players figure it out.

I know the fight with Demi-Fiend is supposed to be tense but this whole fight is just a glorified Pokemon battle only now the trainers also partake in the scrape.
