Hi Milind Love your work. The brush is called a rigger because the old masters used to use a similar brush to paint the "rigging" in their paintings of old galleon ships. They would get a fine line and when the oil paint and varnish dried it would shrink and give an even finer line. regards Brian

It's called a rigger brush because it was originally used to paint the rigging of sailing ships in water color.

Sir, it's called a "rigger"as it was used by oil painters to paint the many ropes ("rigging") on ship and nautical paintings. Also known as a "liner", although they are more dagger-shaped. Thank you for such a wonderful demo.

It's called a rigger because back when sailing ships were commonly used and so painted the brush was invented to paint fine rigging lines.

Hey milind its called a rigger because it was designed to paint the rigging of ships, back in the day when they had lots of ropes
