I got one of these, a Fender Deluxe Roadhouse MIM 2014. I upgraded her with: Locking turner Strap Lock 2 screws bridge instead of the original 6 one Changed frets to stainless frets. I inserted a switch that lets me turn on both bridge and neck pickups or all of the 3 pickups together, which gives kind of a "telecaster" sound.

Great Demo. I have a 15" Deluxe Roadhouse in Candy Apple Red and love it. I don't use the whammy bar because I hardtail my guitars. If you cruise Strat Talk, you will notice that a lot of people don't love the Texas Special pickups. I love them, but everyone is different. I will tell you this. Fender typically runs their pickups a little high, and since the TS are a hotter pickup, it seems to add too much middle and noise. If you cruise the forums you will find what many consider the sweet spot for TS pickups. Basically you are going to lower them a bit. Exact specs are out there. I did it, and now my guitar sings like a canary without so much harshness. I like this Mexican beauty more than I liked my other American strats. It just begs to be played.

Great video Craig. Beautiful colour and pickguard on that strat! It's a shame the 2016 model doesn't come in 'aged white', but I love that the 2016 has a satin neck and 12" fretboard radius.

You can just bend the tremolo arm, with for example with a bench vise, making the angle less tight ;)

I've bought this guitar new, it's great but I have problems with string buzzing, also after good setup. I can't get the really low action of the strings without buzzing. You can't notice that through the amp but it's definitely here. Plus 6th string sometime buzz at the nut. I think the nut is too deep.

hi man i saw some of your videos and they are pretty informative…i just need help since you played this one and also american special which do you think is a better option for me? i can buy a second hand roadhouse like this one with texas special for like 350$ or i should go buy american special hss for 1000$ … i don't want to modify em i'm cool with texas special but are these guitars using the same pickups? what about playability in comparison?

Great sound but very noisy. Where was that coming from?

I recently bought this guitar. I love it. The neck is beautiful and the humbucker engaged pickups are full sounding, but not too heavy. Great axe and a whole lot of guitar for $799

Why are you reviewing an old version of the guitar that is no longer available? D'oh!

A: 10:00 to skip the long pointless intro and get to the sound... B: "People say 'spring'..."... yeah... they do... because that's the answer. There is supposed to be a spring underneath the threaded end of the tremolo arm. If the spring IS actually still in yours (MOST guitars that are more than a week or two old and have had the arm removed at some point do NOT) then it needs to be stretched slightly so that it holds the arm tight at a higher position. It's not rocket science, dude. Good thing you let everybody hear the 'click', though.

Get a new amp. Yours sound way to buzzy.
