I had one of these, but retired it in favor of myide2. It worked great, but I can't keep the arrow keys working, and it required them to use it.

also, one thing to note is that when you mount a cart like Action! programming language, or a word processor or telecomm program, they'll ALSO boot off any disk attached (e.g. real floppy drive, SIO2SD, etc.), so you're using them on the UNO cart (and Ultimate SD) just like the real original carts! So cool! :)

if they are calling the standard OS CIO routines they will boot anything you have inside the ATR.

Thanks for the video, anyway the card that you put in is not a microSIM. It's a microSD :)

Another question: with the ability to boot an ATR via an alternate OS that patches SIO routines, I wonder: can (or will) the alt OSes allow de-patching/re-patching, or somesuch, so you can access BOTH the cart-mounted ATR *and* real (or virtual, e.g. SIO2SD) SIO-connected floppies!?

Technically you can do this by calling back the original OS, its still inside the machine :)

the UNO Cart already patch the XL/XE os to do that

will the Uno cart work with the original 800 (not XL)?

The UNO Cart has some timing issue with the old 800 and will boot but not show the list of files it contain.. but the ULTIMATE SD cart does work and work well with the old ATARI 800, so get one of those.. it does what the UNO does and also support files that are more then 128k in size

If you have a current version of the cart (firmware 1.2 from 2016) you already have it built in. Earlier versions needed the OS on the cart as a file. No longer the case. 👍🏻

@@TheModernAtari8bitcomputer Your channel after ~30 years made me bring my old Atari 800xl out from the storage. Unfortunately some of the ram chips are dead. I was thinking if you knew a way to order a refurbished Atari 800xl(all chips socketed, an SD card reader to load games, extra ram, svideo or vga out and one of those special cartridges that you present in here)....and how much would it cost with shipping cost to Greece. It would be nice if there was such a service and a product available!

the upgrades I am demonstrating are sold individually, and I do the upgrade myself, there are few people in UK or US that can provide you with soldering service where you can ship all the upgrade to them and they will do it for you. check out the ATARIAGE forums

oops, you meant to say "atarimax 1 megaBIT". KB & MB vs Kb & Mb can be quite annoying ;)

correct the AtariMax 1 Megabit is an 128k cart while the AtariMax 8 Megabit is a 1mb cart
