In three years, I went from having absolutely no experience in 3D Animation to working at DreamWorks Animation Studios teaching just about all of the 3D software used to make movies! After 2 years there, I left to try freelance / independent content creation on KZfaq for awhile, before I head back to Feature Film!
This is my journey- the entire process from when I decided I wanted to be an animator until I eventually get there, and everything along the way that will make it possible.
Whether you're chasing a similar dream, or just interested to see where mine takes me, subscribe to follow along with the incredible journey that it takes to become an animator!
You will not be disappointed.
Keep up with the action and connect with me on social!

Know your ishhh :D I'm working on my own Animation Studio out here on KZfaq. Self made, no schooling, but yeah learning from the entire animation community out here. Oh and loving the process of creating my own Studio from scratch. As my sucking at 3D animation has humbled me a great deal over the years. I truly think sucking really bad at something shall become the drive a person needs to make them become far better than anyone ever thought they could become long term.

Hi, thanks for great video! What is your opinion. When some one before working in animation, worked some years in graphic design. Do recruiters or studios care about that or is it just the one thing you apply for?

For a graduating art student that probably doesn’t have a ton of work to share in their reel, would a recruiter or hiring staff prefer shots with animations with a scene or background or should the character(s) be isolated?

14:25 take this advice with a grain of salt, I asked this question a few times during various interviews and it's never well received. You've either got the right stuff or you don't, just shove your greatness down their throats. 40:30 pretty much says it all. I don't think I'd like to work for these people lol.

I'm really curious how that will work out with 2 kids and my wife working full time. I don't think studios will appreciate if I had to stay home because my kids are sick or they have no school that day. So I'm being bold here and say that young students are definitely more advantaged than old dinosaur like me...

You all are so young I'm 23 I know animation takes 20 years to learn I will be 43 before getting a job In animation man need to start getting fit so can live a long career Life drawing will take 7 years to learn to a desired standard and propotion and placement 13 years I dont even think 20 years is enough time

Initially I was a lil appalled to constantly hear “Be a kind person” “You wanna be on your p’s and Q’s” “you wanna make sure to listen and listen” but I’m not seeing anyone being given a reason as to why they should work with any of these companies like you also have to be a leader someone can work with because the way I hear the directors get Lee way for being kind of rude and covering it up as “Honest” is kind of a red flag. But overall as always I loved this and enjoyed the pointers given here.
