Former Israeli peace negotiator Daniel Levy discusses ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas, the ruling party in the Gaza Strip, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s continued hostility to compromise and the Biden administration’s ineffectual mediation. Contrary to its claims of brokering peace, the U.S. “will continue to send the weapons” Israel uses to devastate Gaza, unremittingly fueling an increasingly unpopular war, says Levy, who is now president of the U.S./Middle East Project.

American military aid to the Israeli killing and destruction machine and its burdens on the American taxpayer citizen, it becomes clear that American administrations, with the blessing of Congress, have granted Tel Aviv about 260 billion dollars since 1946. Taking inflation and currency changes into account, the amount is currently estimated at about 320 billion. This aid is paid to Israel in a lump sum and the US has to borrow the money from banks and pay interest on this money which INCREASES THE BURDEN ON THE TAXPAYER BY ABOUT $100 million over the announced figures.

In 1948, Israel's border included East Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria (later known as West Bank). In 1948, in an Arab war of annihilation, Jordan OCCUPIED that territory and ETHNICALLY CLEANSED IT OF ITS JEWS. In 1967, in another Arab war of annihilation waged against Israel to destroy it, Israel recovered that territory. In a parallel example in international law, Ukraine's borders were formed under uti possedetis juris which is why there's international consensus that Russia is occupying Crimea from Ukraine. If Ukraine were to push back Russia and recover Crimea as Israel recovered the West Bank in 1967 from Jordan, would the international community accuse Ukraine of "occupying" Crimea? Of course not. Why the DOUBLE STANDARD when it comes to Israel - the fact is there is no "occupation" under international law. That is a political libel with no legal basis.

The Lancet [medical org.] said this week that over 186,000 Palestinians have died as a direct and indirect result of the war in Gaza. Direct - bombing and killing by Israelis. Indirect - starvation from lack of supplies. housing and infrastructure destroyed causing insanitary environment and disease, hospitals and homes destroyed causing lack of medical care and exposure to the elements. Palestinians with cancer and other illnesses have no medical care as remaining hospitals are inundated with bombing/shooting patients. No care for pregnancy, birthing, childhood disabilities/illnesses etc. So indirectly Palestinians are dying as a result of the war as well.
