Amnesty International has released its annual report assessing human rights in 155 countries. The report highlights Israel's assault on Gaza with evidence of war crimes continuing to mount, as well as U.S. failures to denounce rights violations committed by Israel. It also points to Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine, and the rise of authoritarianism and massive rights violations in Sudan, Ethiopia and Myanmar. We speak to Agnès Callamard, the organization's secretary general, who warns "the international system is on the brink of collapse" and decries the failure of rights mechanisms and Israel's top ally, the United States, to rein in its "unprecedented" assault on Gaza.

And not only real, religious or human Jews are Semites, for there are other people who also are. I'm not seriously educated about it but have read several times that there also are Arabs who are Semitic, without needing to also be Jewish. As I have gathered, Semitism can be a Jewish thing, but it can also simply be something like being hygienic, like keeping a kitchen and household or business (a restaurant, f.e.) clean, healthy.

Although i disagree with the CONTEXT of how and why Russia came to the point of going to war with Ukraine (which was clearly a provocation by the United States and NATO), the guest is very comprehensive and pointed in her delineation of the breakdown in the rule of international law. That's not the ICJ's function. It is the role of the ICC. Do some research. The structures and responsibilities of both organizations are well described online on their respective websites.

The International Criminal Court ( I.C.C. ) in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Russia's Putin just days into the war against Ukraine when an unevacuated apartment block had been (accidentally according to Russia) bombed by Russia. The I.C.C. issued an arrest warrant within 48 hours! where is Israel's Netanyahu's arrest warrant??!! There is no email address or telephone number for the I.C.C. online, but there is a P.O. Box address, perhaps it is time that we should all write to them about its very hypocritical double standards!!

Let's be absolutely honest here. What Powers ( militarily) does the UN have? The Civil War in Yugoslavia and Rwanda exposed its impotence. Which UN nations are going to send any Peacekeeping forces into Ukraine or Israel - Myanmar - Sudan and so on? Unfortunately the UN can not do a single thing to solve the problems. They can only look on and issue legal warnings and admonitions but they can physically affect nothing. I'm not denouncing the UN but I'm afraid backing away from the big powers in the past has led them to this position. This is why the big powers do what they do.
