I like the fact that the guy who won the governorship in New Jersey showed his joy and exuberance by doing that little leap. No one should be mocked for showing emotions of happiness. I get Seth is a joke man, but these days we need some unadulterated joy and happiness on full display. Anybody’s gotta be better than Chris Christie. I celebrate that guy’s win and his leap too.

Prior to the outcome of the 2016 election, I predicted that Trump or Hillary would be one term presidents. Jury's still out on that prediction, but those wins last night could be a sign of where this presidency is going.

Yeah. I had that same prediction (provided whoever ran against them in 2018 wasn't somehow WORSE). With Trump, though, I kind of went further and predicted he wouldn't finish out his first term. We'll see if that bears out.

Point Man+ What country are you writing from? Trump didn't pass any laws, because presidents don't pass laws. Congress passes laws. He signed a lot of executive orders, many of them meaningless or just rolling back regs from the Obama era. He has signed no major legislation in his first year. None. Also, as I noted earlier, some governors have a lot of power and what they do can have huge effects. Read the handbook a little more closely.

Point Man If they cover it up how did you get to know about it? Most of his orders seem to be appointment of people to minor positions (museums and such). It seems he has alsonfired alot of poeple. Point Man+ Presidents don't "pass" executive orders. They are not legislation. They are "orders" the are put into effect unilaterally by the executive. I'm not sure what country you're writing from, but you need a better understanding of how American government works before you try to lecture people who do understand it.

Helena, Montana elected its first African American, immigrant Democrat Mayor (first in Montana history). By the way, Montanas' Janette Rankin was the first WOMAN elected to congress back in 1916, the first woman to hold elected federal office. She was a republican but also a pacifistic and the only person to vote against both world wars. She helped pass the 19th amendment giving women the right to vote. Montana has set many precedents before. Glad to see they are still at it.

Seth is usually set for 12:30am and 11:30pm, Colbert is usually at 11:30 pm and 10:30. So that should not matter that much as both of them are pass 10pm. Except they both lawyered up, and 10:30 is close for comfort given different timezones. Now, if they are difference in how the network is set up, and in lines of production.

The big take away is that even if things seem hopeless Democrats have to keep fighting for what's right. Nobody was sure they'd win as big as they did but then they upset everyone's expectations. We can't win every battle but we should TRY to win every battle.

Like I said, you can't win every battle and even though I actually supported Hillary Clinton I'm not ashamed to say that she made some big mistakes. The problem isn't in messing up but in not learning from that mistake. The Democrats still have a long way to go before they truly redeem themselves but I strongly believe they are taking a step in the right direction. That is why we need to try and win every battle so that we can discover our shortcomings and try to overcome them.

I wasn't really impressed by the Democratic victories at first. After all, most of their big wins were in New England, which has always been Liberal Territory. Factor in all the Trump hate that got the blood of democratic voters boiling, and of COURSE the Democrats were going to win big in that part of the country. It'd be weird if they didn't. But then I remembered - we live in weird times. Trump ran on a platform of bitterness and ignorance and not only did he win, he won in an electoral landslide, taking not only Florida, Michigan and Ohio, but even the traditionally blue states of Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. Trump re-wrote the rules of modern politics in such a way that you can't take ANYTHING for granted anymore. In the Trump era, anything is possible. Which brings us to this - Democrats winning big in traditionally blue states. It makes SENSE. It's NORMAL. And under the Trump Administration, NORMAL is more valuable than gold. The world is finally starting to make sense again.
