Huge thanks to my buddy Phil at KITESITE.NET who got me an Eagle 990 to demo a while back. Took me forever to have time to edit this one, I couldn't just let it go. But here are my thoughts after rocking out on this foil for 3 sessions.

Thanks again for a nice episode... have also the E990 and love it and was myself kind of surprised that I could ride it also in lighter winds with a bigger wing offcourse but still. Love the awesome glide also... and speed ;)

Awesome bud! I def could easily make F-One foils work in my life, I just have so much freakin invested in the Armie lifestyle... doh! If I was riding all F-One, I'd probably have a 940 Phantom and then maybe an Eagle on either side of that. I've yet to try that 940 but the speed and smoothness of the Eagles makes me think I'd have to have at least one in the quiver. Thanks for the comment bud and I wish you an awesome weekend!

Hi Jeremy, nice you got the video done! As I already mentioned I have the same impression that you need to change the initiating angle while starting. And for the ventilation: I felt the same. Hopefully f-one will have a new carbon mast this year that is gonna work better. But I never had a crash because of ventilation. But I heard the water bubbling underneath my feet while riding side chop. I can hear you have the same whistling while riding fast. It comes from the stab for sure. I will get the back side of it sanded to get rid of the sound. I surely agree on all the other impressions you had. The eagles (I got the 1090 and 890) feel very smooth and stable without losing maneuverability! Looking forward to a new front wing they are gonna bring this year that fills the gap between the seven seas and the eagle. Have fun! And btw: I have ridden the a-series glide of OR. Wow! Can’t tell you much but in a few weeks I will have a few rides done and know more about it. Really like the way they make changing soft handles/carbon handles/boom easy…

Sup bud! Yeah these sessions have been burning space on my HD for too long! but I happened to get a good run of sessions at the end of the year so I can't complain too hard. REALLY interesting you've felt the same with the F-Ones and ventilation. IMO it's not normal to have aluminum masts ventilate, so I figured I maybe had a lemon. So maybe there's more going on here... And I hope the carbon fixes it, if it doesn't def let them know! As for the whistle/hum, yeah, I could def sand that out. Since it was a demo I just didn't want to mess with it. The current tail for my Armie stuff was so loud I didn't want to use it, until I learned the fine art of sanding your trailing edges. New front wing?!? that sounds like what Armie just did with the new mid-aspects. I've been patiently waiting for mine, I think it ships tomorrow. But I think a mix between an HA and the older "lower" aspect foils should be the next thing that the industry moves to, and it will probably make the most people happy. I'm stoked to try them, and to try whatever F-One comes out with! Super cool to hear about the a-series Glide! I have one guy around here that rode them last year, I hope he upgrades! lol. But yeah, options, especially for your hands, is a great thing. I can't wait to year what your thoughts are after a few sessions! Take care and I wish you an awesome weekend!

@@OCEANBOUND1 hi man, I had two good sessions already. And it is so warm around here these days. Somehow unreal. I heard a lot about ventilation on the 19mm axis alu mast. But it seems it has a lot to do with the riders weight. Sounds funny but for the axis I heard it from the lighter guys with less than 70kg. I had phantoms before and started on gravity by f one and never had that issue. Seems like it has something to do with angles, speed, twist in the mast, wave/chop direction that all affects this sensation. I didn’t sand the stab yet but def have to. I’ve seen a video by the Levitaz guy explaining what side to sand and how. Think it was called Donaldson method. Since I was on Takuma recently I loved the HA Kujiras with an AR around 8 to 8.5. I guess F one is going to fill the gap with that foil called Skate. I guess they wanted to call it Sk8 because of the AR but they had a twintip called sk8 years ago. The new carbon mast will be one piece with top plate and mast. But I didn’t see any pics of it yet. Only rumors. Yeah, the Glide Matrix system is what I wanna try for sure. Already ordered boom and handles. I had a demo wing and unfortunately the LE loses air. But had a nice contact with the European distributor who quickly wants to fix the problem. We will see. But seems like they definitely care about their customers. I mean regarding the prices they have to! I wonder if F one is going to bring handles with the strike v3!? Keep winging, man!

@@kountchev1 So let me say first, it rides like a dream! I am so hooked, that I don't feel like going on any other foil. i bought this foil already chopped. it is Chopped sanded and smoothed almost to the point there is no indication that there was ever winglets. The only thing i know about chopping is do it gradually because it is harder to add than to take away :)

WOW that's a lot of play in the mast. I have a North foil w/ aluminum mast and fuse and there is zero play and - I haven't tried too hard but haven't noticed any twist/flex it seems rock solid. So stoked to get on the water again might have to plan a trip somewhere warm :p

yeah I'm not sure why the mast was loose like that... I meant to mention that in the video. The screws were tight. I think my kite masts from like 6 years ago kinda did that a little but with teh water it makes it really noticeable. And yeah bud, you need to take a vacation with some wind and waves! Just to split up your long winters. I wish I could go this year, it's not in the cards. So winter winging on the ocean will have to do! Always good reading your comments, I wish you an awesome weekend bud!

Right on bud! I'm not sure what your skill level is, but F-One seems to have everything well covered. I could definitely see myself riding all F-One foils, if I only didn't have the Armie problem that I have, lol. If you haven't tried them, the Phantoms are great and I'd say the best to start on. The Eagles a little more finicky but if you are looking for more speed, smoothness, and glide then def go there. Once you've been outrun by a wave, you start to wonder what it would be like on a faster foil that could keep up with it, so that's where you'd start thinking about the Eagles. But they are just good wings period! Let me know if you end up with one! I really hope to try the 940 Phantom in the next few months. I feel like that one comes with special sauce. I wish you a great weekend!!

Ah! Mast ventilation is my nemesis! The Axis 19mm red masts readily ventilate on me (I have three sizes so it's not a one off!) as does the Gong V2 alu mast, like you say when you get cross chop and going upwind. Fortunately my new Axis Power Carbon mast is absolutely solid in this regard and for that alone (although the other benefits of it are significant!) it was worth the money....
@OCEANBOUND1
@OCEANBOUND1 Жыл бұрын
Oh man the mast ventilation is the worst! I cut a whole section out of this video where I vented about my past ventilation issues. I had a custom mast for kite foiling which I loved but in certain conditions, it was very prone to ventilating. Mostly in colder temps and when I was going at a certain angle upwind. But I really messed up my ribs once from getting bucked off while kite foiling. I then moved to the Armie masts, I haven't seen that since, so like you, worth the extra money. But to be bucked off for no reason on completely flat water... MAN that was frustrating. I worked with the mast designer to tweak a few things and nothing worked. It just goes to show that how there's so much to hydrodynamics. Have a great weekend bud!!

Great stuff what's suuup Jeremy. I literally watched it twice to get the most out of this one tons of information 👏 👍 It's funny the phantom is very much like the fluid T with a aspect of 6 that I use and Eagle is like the HA fluids with a ar of 10 would you be happier using the mid aspect phantom 👻 for waves my feeling that's going to be the better for turning carving with its shorter wingspan ? Thanks for a interesting film have a cracker of a weekend bud

Sup Chris! Funny I just realized you left this comment. I really love them both, for slightly different reasons. And you could probably keep this as a rule when comparing HA and MA foils. MA are more fun in general, hands down. BUT once you have a really good wave day and those really good waves happen to outrun you, you will swear to never let it happen again. That’s when the HAs enter the picture; they have speed. I only ordered one of the new MA foils Armie just released, I have a feeling I’m really gonna like them but I don’t see a need to sell the 3 HAs I currently have cause of the speed factor.

@OCEANBOUNDIIm looking in to this as we speak I think there will be a mid to high aspect comming from all brands AR 7.5 but thin profile just like the armi ones that's just released that will be the next big thing Imo. IM really look forward to your findings

interesting review , yewww ! what i found with army foil they are harder to ride but half ot that might be because i dont have a armstrong board ! Have the same board than the foil brand can help a lot . I tried a fone phantom and they are so easy to manage in all aspects. Another feeling i have with the army foil while flying compared to other brand and maybe because of my rake issue, i dont feel any lift if i try to change foot for exemple it's feel i have nothing under the board i can burry the foil really easily if im not extremely gentle.
@OCEANBOUND1
@OCEANBOUND1 Жыл бұрын
Sup bud! Having matching gear helps a little, but in general I've found all the boards I've tried work pretty well with the Armie stuff. The FG boards have a really nice indent to the top side that gets your feet just a little closer to the top of the mast, which is probably the best difference, everything else is probably minimal, unless your board doesn't have a double concave on the front... that can help with landings. The Phantom is really nice! I think that 940 may be the one I would like the best, and I still haven't been able to ride one yet. As for the lift/pitch thing you mentioned... I ride mine with a +1 degree shim in the fuse, that gives you even less lift and adds a little more speed. but in general I find the Armie foils are very pitch neutral, even when shimmed. My older kite foil masts needed more forward foot pressure, and that could increase with speed. So it takes a little while to get used to the sensitivity, but you become a little lighter on your feet which definitely helps in other areas. however just because it does this, doesn't make it ideal for everyone! I def love picking up speed down a wave and not have to worry about adjusting my weight and balance to stay level. Sorry for the rant there... I wish you an awesome weekend bud!!

@@OCEANBOUND1 Hello, just to tell you how it went, fortunately I was able to demo a eagle foil 890 and it felt incredible and fast, and I also tried an sk8 850. The Eagle felt amazing, but the sk8 felt even better to me. I felt like it had much more lift on the sk8 apart from how agile it is. It was a tough decision for me between the Eagle or the sk8, and my final decision was to buy the sk8 in size 950 so I can ride it in all kinds of conditions. Your videos helped me a lot in deciding.
