The old Walsall college built around the 1950's I think, now in the midst of being fully demolished too make way for yet another supermarket. My reason for filming this was purely historic, because once its gone, then its gone forever. This time next year another large Tesco or Asda will fill this space. It wont mean much too a lot of people, but for me it was a place that I spent five years studying engineering, a happy time where I met new friends and had many happy experiences.
The Bulldozers were half way through demolition when I captured this, the college building in the background is still standing but not for long. Sad, but progress I expect.

Thats a great comment, I was there from 77-82 myself, I met a whole bunch of new friends, had great times, and met really nice lecturers. So much different to school life, and lots of happy memories bestowed upon me. I can still see myself looking out of the top floor window, middle classroom, looking down on "Boots" and the "Acropolis" restaurant...lol - Edwin Starr Eye to Eye Contact always makes me think back whenever I hear it. - I paid 50p to have my haircut there too as a test piece :-)

After school, I went here and spent another five years of Maths, English, homework and exams. I met a whole bunch of new faces and it was an entirley new experience for me. Was quite different to school so I enjoyed myself. Now I feel like one of those old gits who talks about the past and the Good old days.... ha ha :-))

You tell great stories, and I too can relate very well to them myself. I used to hate killing time between 5pm and the start of the evening lecture at 7pm, walking the streets with a crazy friend "Paul Constable" where are you now? I too remember that table football game, was always busy around that area as I remember it. 5pm finishes, I remember the sounds of Yamaha FS1E and Kawasaki 250 triples blast off into the night time...ha ha happy days! :-)

Happy days don't hang around long do they? Weird thing is none of us realise they are happy days at the time, until they are gone..! It's just normality just like today is. I like to throw in a different video or two amongst the Sprinter series, keeps things a little more interesting. Cheers Andy for your support.

Yes I do like old buildings, especially the larger type like factories. I find them eerie and yet fascinating, almost Ghost like, because you can still hear the former workers voices in your head and yet the building is silent, spooky! Around here, all our old buildings get knocked down and replaced by either a retail park or a giant Supermarket.

Yes what we all take for granted today, wont be there tomorrow...!! Since the 1970's in my local area I have seen massive changes to almost everything... Some progress is not always so welcome.

@baba70665 I'd just left back around 82, yes I agree with you, it was a great place to study and meet other people. I had five excellent years there, now I look back with fond memories, until I drive past that is and see yet another Tesco in its place... :-( Thanks for watching and commenting. Paul :-)

It is a shame and your right we don't need another Tesco which it most probably going to be. They are building a new college which I went to and that will soon be knocked down. good video 5* Thanks Daniel

Such a shame isn't it? Sometimes I just hate progress. In this case its not like we need any more supermarkets. We don't have corner shops around our way these days, we have Supermarkets instead. We have two large Gasometers close by, they have been in the down position for many many months now, having been used quite regularly in the past. Im wondering if they will get taken down at some point soon...

This is obviously a very poignant film for you Paul, and is clearly upsetting to see this part of your life being demolished in front of your eyes. Thanks for sharing this very personal video...5* Bob

Yes Lorry park all gone now, the road was widened and modernised etc, That lorry park was very Popular too, always had a fair few lorries on it. The ladies of the night roamed that area, and nearby Caldmore, a local and very well known hot spot for Prostitutes. Shame I never took any photos of that truck stop, one of those things, it was always there and you don't notice it till its gone...shame that. BTW - The ladies of the night still roam those areas...lol

Is the bricklayers arms? Still standing as after classes at the out college, a good place to drink and play pool at 40p (1991). Strange double staircase arrangement in the central tower.

It does make you feel quite sad too see so many recognisable buildings just disappearing. The worst of it is Tesco are going to build another supermarket on this site, like we need yet another supermarket...!!! Just goes to show how much clout these big stores now have. The bottom line is money, Tesco have it, and Walsall council want it..!!

Just recently they have used those gigantic Nibblers to demolish tall blocks of flats. They make mince meat out of concrete... Wished I could have filmed those in action Walter.

Thats a well known saying over here Wayne, "You don't know what you've got till it's gone" I don't think anyone really likes change, especially me. Some things in modern life, such as modern computers, advances in medicine are truly fantastic and very welcome. Then there are the other progressions in life which we know are just down to greedy developers and money... Think I have just climbed up onto my soap box Wayne, Im just having a moan.. ha ha

You strike me as the kind of guy who might like Urban Exploration, since you have an interest in this and the past, unlike many people unfortunately. If you want an idea of what urbex is, I have some videos on my channel titled 'Inverkip PS' - and a date, if you're interested. It's an abandoned power station near me that is still in very good nick. The chimney is a landmark too, and they want to build houses in its place...

Yet another landmark being torn down, yes I know it was a wonder of 60's architecture but the new college looks like a soviet flatblock!! The town I grew up in is barely recognisable and I've only been gone 10 years, in my life its gone from a rather historical interesting black country town you could be proud of into something that looks like communist utopia. You and I have seen all the old pics m8 it really is criminal.
