Ah, Demon's Souls, the Dark Souls of the Dark Souls franchise.

As someone who hasn't played this game but loved the rest of the souls series it's less like "Oh shit they made it look so good" And more like "HELL YEAH A NEW SOULS GAME!"

Show tons of dark, foggy, atmospheric scenes, and nobody cares. Show one scene where the sun is out, and everyone loses their minds.

They're probably going to get new voices for everyone, but imagine if they kept old king Doran's old death noise

I remember when I got Demon's Souls. I randomly stumbled upon some 480p preview footage of a game I had never seen before, but it looked AWESOME, the dark gritty world, thoughtfully paced action combat, I was all about it. I ordered the Japanese version because it released 8 months before the NA version, the translations were rough (but funny), and other than what I saw in that brief video I didn't know what to expect. Demon's Souls beat me down, over and over again. I learned, I overcame, and got beat down a lot more along the way, but it was so damn rewarding unlocking that new zone, or killing that scary boss. Nobody I knew was aware of the game at the time, so it felt like uncharted territory and I loved it. While the sense of mystery and discovery won't be the same the second time, I'm looking forward to going back to Demon's Souls and showing the Adjudicator, Allant, and all the other bosses that slapped me around a thing or two I've learned in the past 11 years.

If I can't consume grass like an all you can eat salad buffet, I'm gonna be sad.

As soon as i saw this trailer i was sold!, ill never forget trying to get through that first level thinking that it is the most difficult game i ever played at the time. Been a massive fan ever since, I found Bloodborne and the DS3 ashes dlc to be the toughest

Something to add to the "Things to fix" section: Added weapon effects (Scraping Spear, Bleed, etc.) proc-ing even if you dodge through it and it therefore doesn't hit you.

i really hope to see the broken archstone on demon's souls remake, the land of giant's could be an amazing extra content for this remake. ps: the tower of latria was the main inspiration for the bloodborne atmospheres, im very courious to see those locations in the new remake!

I personally am ridiculously hyped for this game despite never having played it, and before it's announcement I wasn't sure if I was gunna buy a PS5, but now it's a no brainer.

I know it's an old video by now but your genuine excitement in the showcase reaction reverberated to me, someone who didn't get to play DeS in 2009, so well I teared up (twice!) It must have been surreal to get a game that has special place in your heart get the treatment that it did, as a flagship title of a new gen console no less!

I actually played Demons Souls before I ever even knew what Dark Souls was. I'm beyond excited for the remake! Maybe I'll actually go finish the original/ start over in preparation. (Don't judge me I never beat the final boss cause I played too much and was burned out on the game by the time I got to him)

Having played the game when it first came out and loved it, re: healing items, you have to remember that this was a transitional era. A lot of people were like me: we hoard EVERYTHING, and would try over to NOT use consumables, for fear that we'd need them later. Best example is one of my buddies playing Silent Hill 2, felt like he was near the final boss, so repeatedly tried to kill it with board-with-nail, thinking it wasn't the last boss; finally beats it, and the credits roll. So I think the hope was that people would notice healing items are easy to get and not worry as much about hoarding or save scumming, but many didn't notice.

Demon souls was my first souls game. I'm so excited for this remake and for people to be introduced to it.

For a man who claims that the Nexus is his favorite hub, you seem to not get why it wasn't tedious to return to when Hubs like the Hunter's Dream were treated like the shit they were. Item Burden was one of the mechanics that made returning to the Nexus functional for how leveling worked. If you have to regularly return to the Nexus because of item burden, then you have an incentive to make the action as efficient as possible, and interact with your spell merchant, the maiden in black, as well as make time for the other bookkeeping tasks like improving your weapon, or talking to NPCs. Removing Item Burden for modern convenience will make the Nexus more like the Hunter's Dream, as place that takes two loading screens to do stuff Dark Souls proved was possible to do with a simple menu at the bonfire.

I remember seeing the announcement trailer as well as a commercial on TV for this game and I was soooo stoked and in love, I got the game on release day at VGE and still to this day love it. It is one of my proudest platinum trophies.

I never played a souls series game, but I'm intrigued. I'm on PC exclusively so I will have to wait to rip and port the armors to Skyrim... uh I mean play it.

I am so excited for this. I stumbled upon this game while I was stationed in Korea. It was the best thing that has ever happened to me. So I am beyond excited for the remake.

My Souls journey, in order of what I played first: 1) Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition (made it to Firelink Shrine and tried like hell to progress down past the skellies without realizing you could go UP, gave up on the series for about a few years) 2) Dark Souls 3 (stopped playing at Soul of a Cinder, didn't want it to end.) 3) Dark Souls Remastered - Loved every second of it (I learned I was supposed to try and Ring a Bell and that the first bell was UP, liked it much more this time) 4) Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin (playing this right now, early stages) love it, don't care what people say 5) Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Hated it at first, but now I understand it. Just amazing. early stages...

The friend who got me into the Soulsborne series played them all with me backwards. When we got to Demon's Souls though, it was a blind playthrough for both of us. It was insanely cool running OG Souls blind after a couple hundred hours in the other games. It stands the rest of time, and OH MAN I can't wait for the remake!

real quick, i love the healing grass. I found myself extremely low on healing items when i first started to learn how to survive in this game. and it gave the feel of a hopeless survival mode. Trying desperately to hold on to what little grass i could obtain just to make it by two duds with halberds to find out i'm only half way to the boss. THAT was the most i had ever felt the atmosphere of a souls game and i'm so happy it was my first introduction all those years ago.

Never played the original like 90% of us. But I’m really damn excited. Just started to get into the Souls games and damn it’s fun!

This was the game that pushed me to buy a ps3 when it came out and I was in love. Everything about the game was fantastic, and the end-game honorable pvp battles were an experience of its own. I might be getting the ps5 JUST for this game

Demon's Souls is, and will always be, one of my favorite games of all time.

Loved world tendency, item and equipment encumbrance. Made me consider which gear to wear before exploring every level. Just perfect. Loved the dark moody atmosphere. I am gonna play the remake, Buepoint's work is top notch, but the atmosphere will be missed.

I remember the first time I seen the intro for Demon Souls I was absolutely blown away, had chills running down my spine the whole time, then... THEN that big ass dragon comes up at the end and my fucking hype over loaded lol. I never actually got to play this game so I'm extremely excited to have it for ps5.

We all know the real reason we want a demon souls remaster: Maiden in Black best Souls girl.

Demon's Souls was my first Souls game. It made me fall in love with the Souls genre, which ultimately led to one of my favorite games on the PS4; Bloodborne. I fanboyed so hard seeing this trailer. I'm so happy that the rumors of a remaster/remake were true, and I'm so happy that Demon's Souls is coming back and people get a chance to play it again.

Tbh there’s a load of games I’d like to go back and play that are stranded on the PS3, and Demon Souls was a textbook example. For as recent as the console is, some of its game sure have turned into GameCube levels of difficult to find.

DS was one of my first plats and 100% completion. I remember when they turned the world totally black for Halloween ...then you could farm pure blade stone. Had some crazy griefers too. Hated that damn scraping spear and the Valley of Defilement. DS and RDR are the reason I kept my PS3. Used to play the soundtrack at the studio when I was working. I fell in love with dark souls, so much it made me play every souls game from DS1 to sekiro. I unfortunately never played demon souls because i never had a PS3, but after this announcement I’m so excited to play this game that started the souls series.

I've played through DeS probably dozens of times and it's one of my favorite games I've ever played, but if there are things they "fix" (Stockpile Thomas duping) without addressing the reason those were valuable (limited crystal lizard spawns? Who thought of that?), we're going to have some real problems. I think losing levels to fall damage as a phantom or red signs would be regarded unfavorably now, and I can't imagine what sort of nonsense an Old Monk could get into today, but I honestly appreciate a lot of DeS cheese in a way I never would with other games. Maybe my fear is that devs will buy too much into the hype of the series' difficulty and remove a lot of the silliness. I liked stormruler knocking people off edges, scraping spear invasions, having a broken early weapon like the Crescent Falchion if someone knows where to look. There were so many goofy elements to the first game in an excellent series that were later scrapped in the name of realism or challenge and I just hope it doesn't lose its charm in a remake. In short, the game has got a heart of gold and I don't want it taken.

This got me into the souls series. I was really invested in the lore. And I love the penetrator sword even though it was shit. Looked awesome tho

I remember this one guy in boletarian palace behind a fog wall with a huge ass sword who would literally oneshot you. ended up cheesing him with poison mist. I also can't remember how often I died to the fucking spider boss but it sure was a lot. If it comes out for pc or Xbox I'm definetely going to get it.
