How can a person be the fire commissioner without any firefighting experience, knowledge or training? She has no idea of what it takes to be a firefighter or fighting out of control fires. NY politics at its best.

I find it particularly concerning that the current fire chief lacks clinical experience in the fire department and is appointing individuals to her inner circle that lack the necessary experience as well. The firefighters have made it clear that they have no issue working with a senior officer who happens to be a woman. However, in their interviews, they have pointed out that the problem lies in the fire chief's lack of experience and the lack of experience of those she is trying to appoint to key positions while discriminating against others. Based on their statements and my research, I believe this is a clear case of discrimination.

What sad and disturbing decisions on the Commission’s decision. These 3 Chief Officers along with many other members and officers of the F.D.N.Y has proven over their dedicated years of service .That they will stand between you and harms way 24 🇺🇸7 .Can she say the same after taking her position .And the decisions and changes being made.

She has NO BUSINESS being the fire commissioner. She has NO EXPERIENCE in fire fighting. This is not a job that simply pushes papers around, where if a mistake it can be fixed. You CAN'T fix dead firemen or civilians. I'm sure she has no idea what a Stang Gug is, or under what circumstances it is used as opposed to a booster line. Or tell you the rate of flow coming out of a 1" 1/2 as opposed to a 3" 1/2. Older fire fighters with experience know the sounds and movements of buildings when they are on fire. They have a much better chance of pulling men out of a building before it collapses then someone that doesn't have ANY EXPERIENCE. And even they, the ones with experience have fatalities. This politically correct business has to stop. This is unbelievable. One of the biggest and highest profile fire departments in the world, and you put an unexperienced little kid to be the commissioner. Unbelievable. Did you have to give her a booster seat so she could see over the commissioner's desk?
