At first glance, these looks might seem similar to us. But upon closer observations, you can definitely tell there are some distinctive features that set them apart from each other!

I really appreciate this video. So much gets lost in translation and I see people calling the douyin style korean makeup ALL the time. It's good to see Chinese trends getting proper credit for their origins! My favorite is the Douyin style bacuse I feel like it blends popular asian trends like the aegyo sal contour with western trends like a defined eyeliner, but I prefer the new thinner Korean style eyebrows and dewy foundation, so I mix them together, lol 💕

I honestly love red lipstick, since I don't normally wear a lot of makeup, I believe red lipstick can "snatch you up".But I am really afraid to wear it most of the times, simply because it feels...complicated, if that makes sense.I saw some women wear red lipstick during the day, as "casual" makeup, and they looked so cool.I wonder if there are women here that wear red lipstick casually and can give me some tips 😅😅

if you feel red is too daunting, use a less pigmented red and pat it on the lips. you can blur the edges a bit with your finger if you don't want to use lipliner. that's how it use red! instead of a very sharply lined and intense red.

It can feel heavy because it's a very bold color and you're not used to it.. You can eventually start using it (without using much pigment) and you increase the opacity more and more (or eventually start wearing it at home so you get used to it!) :3

To make it more casual, you can wear it in a minimal, French-inspired makeup look with just mascara and brow product for definition. You can also try and swipe it just in the centre of the lips, then press the lips together to blur any sharpness in colour/lines! Another trick - you can start by wearing a pigmented red lipgloss to grow accustomed to the colour, and start wearing the lipstick proper once you are more comfortable with the look!

(this comment contains an unsolicited makeup style breakdown) retro hk makeup tends to focus on the brows and the lips!! - the goal for brows is to look naturally thick but neat -- fill in brows (and use brow gel) as needed. no need to trim, just use brow gel to position the hairs. - the lips are typically a bright neutral-ish red, but nothing too dark. if you don't like reds, a warm milky almost-coral pink will do (for ppl with darker skin tone, this could be like a nude brick or dark milk rose color or something in between, if those colors make sense?? idk how to put it into words). fill in the lips, define the cupid's bow a tiny bit. you want it to be obvious that you are wearing something on your lips, but like in an effortlessly beautiful kind of way. - the overall face is very natural, like a no makeup makeup with a satin finish. soft contour. blush should be barely visible (if used at all) like think a pink-beige used almost like bronzer/contour. tbh color correcting and spot concealing is probably the way to go here. - for the eyes, keep the eyeliner fairly natural, so just lining the lash line with little to no wing. definitely curl your lashes and use mascara, but not too much. no falsies if you have eyelashes on your face (if you don't have eyelashes due to things like trich, then use somewhat natural looking falsies)

regular chinese makeup is definitely just a good base, black eyeliner, and a signature red lip, no overlining, no glitter, and no crazy lashes, tho imo i find it may age some people so i recognise why douyin makeup is popular esp in xiaohongshu, also i find influencer makeup (of any kind) dont tend to look good irl

@@RubabHere-.....Chinese makeup (everyday Chinese makeup) can look good on you as you have high-shaped features. Douyin makeup can contrast with your features. Or you can try a Korean makeup look as it's in between both styles (these are the popular East Asian makeup styles; keep in mind there are so many makeup styles you can try if these don't look good on you) . I know you will rock the look 😜

none of the korean beauty gurus i watch (minsco, jeyu, hoonion, happyrim, haeni, bbomi, etc) apply a full strip of lashes to their eyes. they like the ones that are already cut into pieces and usually only apply 3-5 small pieces to their whole eye depending on the look. the section on the glossy lip look is also wrong. very few korean beauty gurus would ever use blush alone on the lip, they call it "overlip" (overlining the lips) and its a HUGE trend that many brands are taking part of (amuse, romand, dasique, clio, the saem, etc). korean beauty gurus almost always start off with covering the natural lip line with whatever concealer or foundation is left on their puff, then they overline the lip with a shade that will match the look, they apply a base lip color, then the point lip color (which is usually the gloss), and some many finish off by contouring right below their lower lip and at their cupids bow. koreans also definitely use powder. high glow bases are popular but they definitely do set with powder, mostly anywhere that can get oily.

@@cristinasalguerogonzalez2189coming from someone who speaks 2 foreign languages: learn the alphabet and basic grammar following the order of the proficiency test. Study vocabulary until you can understand about 60% of the basic sentences. Then build up vocabulary through media (movies, music, books, etc). Try to watch stuff without subtitles (or with subs in your target language, even better), pay attention to what you do and don't understand. If you notice a word you can't make out coming up a lot, look it up. Most of the time, you'll be able to guess the meaning by the context. Also, don't worry too much about grammar. Just learn the basics and focus on making them feel natural to you rather than memorizing the rules. You'll learn the rest intuitively as you go ❤

the douyin 3D makeup trend and elegant cn style suited me most! thanks to the douyin and xhs jiejies who did easy tutorials. I used to do kr style the straight brows, dewy supple look, slim aegyosal but I realized it's hard to maintain the style.. especially the dewy look.. It's just not suited for my country's weather...

I think Korean makeup looks better on me. Solid, bold lip colors just don't look good on me at all. Everyone has said "red lipstick looks good on everyone, you just need to find the right color for you" yea well I'm yellow toned and literally NONE of the warm toned red lipstick looks good on me at all. I found that softer colors, glossy/dewy lips that are in the warm pink rose color to look best on me.

@@YearOnACloudmmm oval is the most versatile face shape, but this do not mean that everything gonna look good on you because for instance 2 persons can have oval face shape but one style of makeup work on one and not in another the problem could be :visual weight,facial propotions,facial features,personal color ,etc. Dear peachie have videos about this things that I talk about.

Oh my god! The example videos during the explanation of the Korean part! It wasn't even Korean! Are you kidding me? And also, Korea has a style called smoky make up. You only showed one type of make up style used in Korea and trying to claim that it's all. JUST BECAUSE IT LOOKS GOOD, DON'T CLAIM THAT IT'S CHINESE. The main beauty products and make up style came from the Korean and Japanese celebrities. Those two countries were the ones that began the trand, and chinese make up came long after, as the tiktok started. They started to absorb the tranding make up styles, which was mainly Korean type, and claimed as theirs. China has been taking away other countries culture and reclaiming it as their own. Please don't fall for that.

Chinese make up 5 years ago looked nothing like that! Then all of a sudden their make up style changed to Korean style and now, they are re claiming it. If you have eyes, look at it. Other than the fact that chinese one is little bit darker, it is a same make up using same make up technique. Seriously? The overall lookings of the make up is same! People get confused, why? Because it originated from Korea. Just search up chinese make up 5 years ago.

Korean makeup focuses on a natural or smoky look, while Chinese makeup is more dolly and glamorous. Recently, Chinese makeup trends have been mistakenly labeled as 'Korean makeup.' For instance, 'manhua lashes' from China are being rebranded as 'manga/anime lashes,' even though Japanese lashes tend to be thinner and more natural.
