High expansion foam remains the most established technique for protecting the bulk storage of LNG and this test work is still the most extensive practical work done in this area to evaluate both foams and the robustness of the delivery equipment.

In the majority of situations the Hi Expansion foam system serves two purposes.1. If there is a major spill of LNG it will blanket this spill and control the level of evaporation.2. If there is a spill and a fire occurs, then the system is designed to control the fire and allow a controlled burn off.
