I intend to connect a CD player (CDT2-MK3) on I2S-A HDMI and a streamer on I2S-B RJ45 (from Iris DDC) on the Terminator II. Are both IS2-A and I2S-C outputting at the same time on the DDC (mode 0) or do you need special configuration to e.g. enable I2S-C (RJ45) instead of I2S-A? Why I2S-C on the DDC and not I2S-B? Do you have to connect I2S-C from the DDC to I2S-C of the Terminator II / Plus? Also, is there a difference in sound quality between I2S RJ45 and I2S HDMI? Thanks

I use I2s from the Iris to my Pontus II without the Clock synch and it works well. What the differences with the clock synch ?

Hi Alvin. My understanding is that when you use I2S output into I2S input on a DAC, the internal clock of the DAC is bypassed since the information is already clocked in I2S format. Is this correct? If so, would seem like the Iris is a poor match for the Terminator II/Plus since these two DACs have better internal clocks than what is in the Iris. Correct?

Hi Joshua, it depends. For DENAFRIPS, all digital inputs are reclocked by the built-in crystals of the DAC. TII/TPlus may serve as as MCLK to output the clocks to sync with the DDC. The result would be interesting.

So do I need to figure out the pin configuration of the hdmi i2s cable I use and see if it will match the pin configuration of the DDC & Terminator?

I have follow the instructions, but mine is with gaia instead of iris. But the result was reverse left and right channel. How can I fix that?

Iris is a DDC, Digital to Digital converter :)

So is the iris or Gaia the best choice with only usb (using the clock from the t2)

The clock inside the terminator is far better than the Iris, you only buy the Gaia if the clock in your unit is inferior. Basically, the Gaia is great with mostly any other dac that is not denafrips, or you can use the iris if your dac can also accept the same clock signals that the Iris outputs. Not all dacs have equivalent clock inputs, like Gustard X26 pro only has a 10mhz clock input

@@VinshineAudio I chatted with you over email during the black friday/thanksgiving weekend holiday. I must say my friend, this Pi2AES is an astounding unit. Jitter at -142 db is insane with i2s output, and has honestly been the only thing I have heard so far in all my equipment that has brought a major and vast change to my system. At only 200 dollars this unit is an insane bargain and also to my knowledge they are about to release a new HAT that's even better than the one I have. Not sure if you have had a chance to hear it, but highly suggested here.
