This one is a joy-filled marathon as I upcycle plain jeans to make awesome wide-leg jeans, a sexy straight denim maxi skirt, and a beautiful tiered skirt. This might just be my best video yet!

Denim and plaid. Tell us you're Canadian without telling us you're Canadian! You are an inspiration. Not only are your ideas brilliant, your execution is top tier. I'm learning so much from you and you have inspired me to get a scissors to my old unloved wardrobe. I'm feeling so good about it, thanks to you Catherine.

The wide legged jeans bring back memories of the 70's. I remember making a pair of pants with bottoms at least that wide. My dad teased me that I could get my pants caught in the door standing a foot away from the door. Your jeans are cuter than my pants were.

I have a festival in the summer, and one of the bands we are going to see is a Scottish inspired Rockband, and everyone will wear their Kilts. I will make myself this lovely plaid skirt for that. I have a favorite pair of grey jeans that is ripped in the crotch, wich would be perfect for that, an also and old black and grey denim jeans I just couldnt throw out yet. So i can make the denim skirt as well. This inspired me so much, and gives me the bravery to tackle it myself. Thank you for that Katherine. Thinking of putting the buttons to be all in the front, and only sew closed the top part so I could have it open on the bottom as a slit :)

And they are NOISY when I walk through the office (which is quiet) - it's like I'm wearing corduroy or something!! So I appreciate on these wide leg jeans how you used the yardstick to mark and I did the reverse. Much quieter now!!

Catherine, my Mother was an excellent seamstress and also worked in a Tailor's. Of course doing men's suiting and some other garments in the tailors they used made to fit patterns. At home she made wedding dresses etc which we didn't see or know who the bride was, we were in bed when anyone came for fitting. Her sewing room was out of bounds. A very sore bottom from Dad made sure of that! My friend and I got invited to a Dinner Dance in Belfast Castle. She had a dress, but I didn't. Mum met me during my lunch. Went to the Silks, I was slim and 4'10" wish I could remember the designer, his fabrics were very eclectic. I'm talking 1967 Italian? Despite working, looking after 6 of us, tried dress on inside out as she did with everything, even alterations. That was the last I saw it until the night! It was fabulous I started to get compliments asking who was the Designer? My Mum made it! My friend said, tell anyone else asks it's a lovely up and coming Designer called Eveline in such n such street in London, my friends brother was Director Producer in London, she knew sewing districts. I was embarrassed telling fibs. Responses were oh she's fabulous, she'll go far etc. All it cost was silk lining and thread and my wonderful Mum's skills! When I told her she told me off for fibbing, then the three of us had a great laugh. We were so proud. Growing up all we wanted were bought dressed and Cardis. Thank goodness I realised how skillful she was and as toddlers my 4 boys were kept well dressed when I had little! Catherine, it was Emilio Pucci. Swirly colours, flowed like a dream. I know the fabric cost Mum a fortune, it had cut away sleeves, small Mandarin neckline fitted just to waist then was a circle skirt. Princess Seams fitting down to to skirt. Dancing in it was glorious, and as I didn't drink or smoke my precious dress was safe. Think it's in ex husband's roof space where with wedding dress shoes etc, he'll never let me have them! Any man who burns Mary Quant shoes isn't much to shout about!!

Catherine, it was! At least I got out with most of my clothes with 2 Policeman supposedly protecting me, until my younger sister using language my Mother would have had a fit over, asked were they blind, he stood yo LHS of either one or other so he could kick and punch without them noticing. Not that they took much notice. I'm so glad my Mum taught us not to hate or hold grudges as I got nothing from our home, no share from the home, no furniture, not even a bed for my 6 yr old. Keeping my Mum's words in my heart I got over through it. I wish I had had the courage sooner! One thing, my Mum in law was an exceptional woman who I wish I'd told sooner. I saw her every day until she passed. I was so happy when she told me I was so like a daughter to her and she was proud of me and the same was said by me, she had always been a great Mum-in-law and I knew I was very lucky. My Father in law was older and passed years before but he too was such a good man. My Mum said I was so lucky to have in-laws like them. She was incredulous when I said I wasn't willing to fight over the house. I am content on my own, if can sew with my new glasses including my prism prescription as I've double vision, which I collect soon. Not being able to see for about 8 yrs has been difficult. Watching you is excellent as you explain constantly bringing bits back into my mind, and it makes your videos more interesting as I'm now learning again! Me who used a treadle standing at no size. Even when Mum got her Singer that worked with the knee (bought one in her memory 😊) any problems, weren't really problems as originally Daddy was an Engineer, he used to try to explain how to fix ourselves! Then he retained as a Teacher, but of course never lost his skills. I live in rural Northern Ireland, about 15mls from Newcastle County Down. As they say here, in each of your garments, your a fine figure of a woman! I'm 73 and still don't dress like an old lady. I just make little changes every few years as I do know where to stop! If I didn't I've 4 boys who would drop hints, but they don't! x

TOO, TOO CUTE! ‘Nough said! What fun to watch, too. A magical, mystery tour thingy… how will it end up? Personally, I think you made all the right decisions!👏🏼👏🏼

Wow! Great ideas and beautiful outcomes. I wasn’t too sold on the tiered skirt idea but I have to be honest… I absolutely loved it in the end and you looked fabulous in it
