loud =/= epic. they laughed because its overplayed and boring. EDIT: To be a bit more clear, the issue here as opposed to other pieces that may be overplayed is that it's appreciated not because of its artistic/emotional side, more so it's loudness and simplicity which generally targets a more mainstream audience (don't want to be all elitist and crap, but that's the truth). I guarantee this piece will showup in a lot of "top classical hits playlists". Now, moonlight sonata mvt 1 is highly interprettable, which does not have the same issue. Perhaps people who don't listen to classic music much will simply enjoy the feel it gives, people (in these audiences) would enjoy the interpretation of the music and raw emotion from technique in those types of pieces. An analogy would be someone playing hot cross buns in an encore with Chopin's etudes, it would be quite funny.

@@Olga_Braun фортепиано - музыкальный инструмент, прежде всего. играя на любом инструменте, ты не будешь сидеть как столб привокзальный. любых музыкантов учат показывать эмоции - в этом целая половина смысла того, что они делают. я более чем уверен, что ты никогда не сможешь сыграть вот такую жесть, не показав ни одной эмоции.

Смысл этого ускорения следующий, как нам рассказывал учитель музыки. КОгда композитор Григ писал эту композицию он вкладывал такой сюжет - в горной пещере тролли танцуют вокруг костра, сначала медленно, потом всё быстрее и быстрее, ну как-то так в общем, пока их тануц е превращается во что0то бесноватое и сумашедшее и в конце все они падают без сил

They do it on purpose, you can see at the beggining when its not that fast that the frame rate is already low. This is to emphasis the skill of the musician. Its a well known technic.

This summer I saw/heard Matsuev live at the Ravinia Music Festival. He tackled the Rachmaninoff 3. If that wasn't demanding enough, he played this Peer Gynt transcription as an encore. He defied what seemed humanly possible. He did so in tremendous heat at an outdoor concert. It was one of the greatest piano performances I've ever attended. When he finished the Peer Gynt, I ejected from my seat with bravos and applause. WOW.

Это надо слышать вживую ! Этим летом выпало счастье побывать на концерте Дениса. После исполнения концертной программы Мацуев выходил на бис три раза. Зал в едином порыве умолял исполнить что-нибудь ещё. Тогда я впервые вживую услышал «в пещере горного короля». Это было потрясающе: такая динамика, неописуемость глубины и яркости звука. Я был на многих рок концертах, но даже там ансамбль из пяти человек не сравнится с громкостью Мацуева. Воистину гений, браво.

I had the great opportunity to see Denis at a performance in Carnegie Hall on October 20, 2019. It was a brilliant show and for my first piano concert, I was very pleased for it to be seeing Denis play.

Я далёк от классической музыки, недавно услышал всю эту историю несправедливости судейства на конкурсах, стало как то обидно за таких самородков , гениев, каким безусловно являлся Алексей, которые вынуждены были покинуть Родину и стать кумирами за границей. Утечка " кадров" так до сих пор и продолжается.
