Denis just went even higher in my estimation. Such empathy and generosity of spirit to give Spielberg his moment in the sun. Genuinely moving.

Denis couldn’t be more right: Spielberg is an inspiration. Not only to me, but to the millions of writers, actors, directors, and producers yearning to tell stories at a professional level. Thank you, Steven!

This gives me strong flashbacks to Bong Joon Ho praising Martin Scorsese back when parasite came out.

Having that much impact on people's life and witnessing the kids that grew up on your work becoming accomplished filmakers because you inspired them from 8 to 50 years old must be a very powerful feeling.

Gotta love the fact that Spielberg is actually and visibly moved by this speech. Is not just facade. Also the fact Denis (his peer, no doubt) still has the humility and respect of calling him Mr Spielberg, instead of just Steven. It really shows his admiration.
@rudolfreindeer11122 жыл бұрын
Denis isn't Spielbergs peer. He's more than 20 years younger and started just recently. I'd say his peers are PT Anderson, Tarantino, Chris Nolan....Spielberg is the previous generation....Spielberg, Scorsese, Scott

Exactly the same sentiment and type of speech I would give to Steven Spielberg if I COULD ever reach the heights of Denis Villeneuve. I am so glad he gave this speech to him! SO moved. There are SO many of us that were inspired by him. I'm one of them. I watched a speech by Steven Spielberg years ago, and after that, I knew what I wanted to do. Bravo Denis!!!

There’s no such thing as first or second or third; arts is not sports! You can say he is certainly one of the most influential and with the highest impact along side other equally impactful filmmakers like: Kubrick, Scorsese, Hitchcock, Bergman, Goddard, Kurosawa, Griffith, Lang, Ford, Welles, Tarkovsky, Fellini, Eisenstein, Truffaut, Chaplin , Ozu, Renoir etc.

What movie is he talking about? The truck?
@DickPhantom2 ай бұрын
Duel 1971. I guess “The Truck” must’ve been the title in Canada where Denis grew up
@liserecherches9314Ай бұрын
The movie is DUEL (same title in both french and english) The TRUCK (and his shadow driver) is used as a symbol for BULLIES, that, for unknown reasons, continously harrasses us, even if we try to get rid of them. In that movie, the good guy wins.
