The Royal Palace, "Amalienborg" actually became built for 4 Noble Families after a devastating fire, as part of a new town: Frederiksstaden! But when the actual Royal Palace, "Christiansborg" also burned, The King bought the 4 houses, which are today the Royal Palace, and never moved back, so today Christiansborg is the seat of our Parlament, Folketinget! But it still has room for the Royal Family, if wanted!!

nice little detail you demonstrate there, "I just throw off my clothes, leave my phone on the pier and go for a swim..." (of course there are thieves in Denmark too, they are everywhere.) -but they are rare. and the fact that we don't fear that everyone is a thief makes us worry less... makes us happier... (or stupider, take your pick.)

It is a balanced view about Denmark being happiest place. There are problems in every country and expats not being accepted by the locals is something that Danes need to improve. Influencers can exaggerate anything just like they did with the bicycles not being locked story 😅

I too am skepitcal of the happiest country being denmark. but then i think about it and can't really think of many places that would make more sense. Like Switzerland, Netherlands or Iceland maybe?

I'm really curious about why Scandinavian countries are considered to be "happiest" even though their winter is so dark, cold and depressing. Weather wise, I would consider it happier living in places like Hawaii or Spain.

happiness is the wrong word, or rather not the full picture... it is a scale from stressed out to happy... and where you are has no influence on where you are on that scale, but the people around you and the systems you live in do. scandinavia wins because the people there are not thinking about what they can get from you, and the social structures tries to make your life as stress free as we can.

I'm from Spain and I've lived here my whole life. While I see why people would say Spain is a happy country like with great food, beaches, hours of sun and extroverted people, I cannot agree with the statement because of the people. Spaniards are extremely loud, they love to create uncomfortable situations with other Spaniards (not with foreigners) especially with shy people like me and they're just annoying and I would love to move to another country in Europe, maybe Denmark. Also, here the government is so corrupt that many people just don't want to vote because they don't care anymore about politics and a new quite radical anti-progessism movement is rising among the young people with far right parties like Vox supporting it so... this will get bad soon.

Probably because weather isn't the most important thing, the Congo and Cuba have pretty nice weather but it's a shithole. The standard of living is so much better for everyone in Denmark, compared with spain etc which has lots of unemplyment and poverty. Hawaii isn't a country so cant be compared with Denmark as a whole. With that said i find it odd that denmark used to be happiest country in the world too, but i guess it's hard to point out another country. Only country i can see as having a "happier" people would be Switzerland, Norway or Netherlands or something

-of corse you can talk about it. And I understand, as a Dane, what you mean. Especially the last 20 years we have lost some of our humanity against foreigners, and special against muslims. You just say what you mean, thats very danish too.👍

People will misunderstand you? No, I understand you, I just don't agree with you. There is a difference. You clearly do not know everything about the Denmark you are commenting on.

Maybe, Denmark is a little too comfortable. Too much comfort could lead to boredom, could lead to be depression. Yeah, if you didn't grow up in Denmark, you probably wouldn't like it there. Denmark from my eyes looks peaceful, comfortable, but maybe a little boring. The UK to me seems more fun, that's why I think many people rather live there.

It's just not true, boredom is a subjective experience & something one will largely be at fault for themselves.

Why are you afraid to speak your mind? Denmark is a free country you shouldn't be backlashed for your opinion. I also find the happiness talk a bit forced and over-marketed. In order to be happy it is also important to feel alive, and feeling alive is a delicate balance between stress and security. If you only have security, you live in a bubble, you will watch your life go by. That stress you lack in Denmark. Without stress, you are as dead as a rock. A rock pretending to be happy.

You are right. Denmark is not the "happiest" country in the world. It has not been ranked 1 in that index for over 5 years. So you are somewhat late with the message 😅 Anyways, these things are subjects that are studied thoroughly, so subjective opninions are really not relevant. Only thing you are right about in this regards is that these countries still have their problems. And that just because some country rank high in this or that, does not mean that a person would find a happy life here. It depends on ones approach to life. But thank you very, very much for not reproducing the lie about us being the ones using the most anti-depressive per capita. Honestly is typicaly Danes spreading this lie 😂
