This layout is unreal. The scenery, the trains, the buildings, the videography, etc. Everything about looks like the prototype, like it was filmed in 1940 live. Outstanding work. The absolute best modeling I have ever seen. It just blows the mind into another dimension.

Very, very nice work on both the modeling and the video. I appreciate how you've captured the verticality of the prototype. The tiny train is almost overwhelmed by the rock walls, which is very hard to capture in miniature. And the trains run at the correct speed!

Glad you have an interest in the RGS! I have visited the site several times - will be going back again this fall. The actual site is beyond breathtaking. Since the rock formations and talus slopes are such an important part of the overall railroad track scene along with the trestles, I attempted to copy them as closely as I could (needs more work). I carved them by hand (no molds) with pictures for reference. The layout is 54 x 25 x 8 ft. high. More to come. Thank you for your generous comment!

WOW WHAT A REPLICA OF THE OPHIR LOOP. I have been reading The RGS Story for the past few years and when I got to book iv on the Ophir Loop, i knew what I wanted to model with my HO set. But having seen yours which is sooo accurate I know I could never do it as you have done. It's absolutely beautiful. I would love to see it in person some day. Do you ever do open houses like when a show like the Narrow Gauge show was in Denver and had homes open around town.

I was watching again this morning and noticed on bridge 45-A that you made it with the long bents and not the Howard-truss style bridge prior to 1909. I like the one you modeled better. I also wanted to comment on the smoke from the station chimney. I love it! How did you do it? Also what gauge and model of steam engines are they?

Denis, I model a portion of the Colorado and Southern. Recently I bought a Brass model of a C&S Bobber Caboose, thinking I would detail the interior. Imagine my disappointment when I discovered that although it appeared that the undercarriage and body where screwed together, they also decided to solder them!. Brass Models are excellent as far as details are concerned. However, making them so you can't install interiors and Glazing on the windows has made me think I will not buy another Brass piece of rolling stock!

A Billionaire could afford to rebuild a part of the RGS as a museum RR as a preservation project, similar to the Cumbres and Toltec RR. They wouldn't even miss the money, but it's been shown that the richer one becomes, the less empathy one has. They never have enough in their minds. If only they could let go of the profit motive and do it for the public good. There is so much that could be accomplished with that kind of cash. The RR could also be done as a modern transit system like the RHB in Switzerland, with steam tourism as an extra.
