Pete Fornatale and WNEW were great advocates for the BB's. Anytime they could have a Beach Boy on , they would. I love this album and it's too bad the group as a whole didn't support this effort. Dennis was going to tour but it fell apart, what a shame

Dennis is (I never say was, because while i listen to him, how can one say he's truly ever gone) so magnetic, and a vibrant beautiful soul. one might say he was the lothario of the group (he was) self destructive, (Unbelievably and unfortunately so) but if one casts the best image of a person and to have it radiate for all to see my explanation would be: Dennis Wilson had Soul, Compassion, and the Heart of a Lion. He is one of my all-time favorites, and i adored every second of this brilliant interview.

One of my most vivid memories of the beach boys was in 1965 when I was 9 I was feigning being sick to get out of school and I was listening to my older brothers new BB album when one of the biggest earthquakes in washington state history hit and it put huge gashes in the record. He never forgave me for an act of god.

@yossarian6799
@yossarian6799 3 жыл бұрын
Brian and Dennis smoked as well. Even if he'd cleaned up, it's unlikely that Dennis would have lived a full life. The damage done to his body from so many years of such heavy alcohol abuse would have likely caused complications down the road. It's a shame that his low self-esteem led to such deliberate self-destruction.

If this is 1977, then Dennis is 32 here and very coherent. In a couple of years by 1980, he was really on a severe downslide with the drugs, smoking, booze and recklessness. Self-destructive behavior is really such a waste, such a shame.

Reading different articles thru the years that not long after this interview that Brothers Recordind Studio was sold. Therefore , the reasoning behind Bambu not being completed. The studio was almost like therapy for him. The getaway. In the midst of the second divorce from Karen Lamm Wilson was a strain. So the downfall began and spiraled til his death. We all on here are Beach Boys fans and therefore Dennis Wilson fans. He had energy, compassion and in general a caring down to earth soul. Talented but unfortunately went down the wrong paths of self destruction. Gone to soon.

In the later years of his life, Dennis sang very hoarsely, no doubt due to substance abuse. This is especially apparent on Denny's recording of "All Alone"(from the BB's "Endless Harmony Soundtrack" CD), although Dennis never had the singing voice of a Pavarotti or Domingo.
