denny just passed away... sorely missed... as it always happens, a great artist passes away and then you decide to rediscover his catalog.. rip mr. lane...

This album can stand next to any super album of the seventies, yet nobody knows it. Of course I have it on vinyl..

Same case here. I have it on vinyl (does it even exist on CD?) and also wonder why this album doesn't get more recognition!

Colin Allen was the drummer for Stone the Crows, the band Jimmy McCulloch was in before joining Wings. He wrote the lyrics to the 2 songs McCulloch sang lead on and wrote the music to for Wings, "Medicine Jar" and "Wino Junko".

I have the album and always wondered if Paul took part of it without appearing in the credits... maybe doing some backing vocals or playing here and there... or just putting some little touch of himself. Do you know something about that?

Its a pity Denny didn't save "Baby Caroline" & "Sons of Elton Haven Brown" for future Wings albums as they are really good songs.

@@drmjr78 Colin Allen replaced Pierre van der Linden on drums and with Focus he recorded the album "Hamburger Concerto" in 1974... one of my favorite albums ever!!!❤

From Wikipedia,- Denny Laine - Ahh... Laine! -Ahh...Laine! is the first solo album by Wings guitarist Denny Laine, released in 1973. Most of the music was recorded in 1972, after Laine had joined Wings. Laine wrote and produced all the songs. On the front cover he has a Wings T-shirt, but he did perform some of these songs before joining Paul & Linda McCartney in the band. Ahh... Laine was finished up in mid-1973 and released that year. This album was recorded before 1972, and before Denny ever joined Wings. I am not sure of the exact date but I would guess 1969 or earlier, as this is something he recorded in between other projects and was then shelved until Tony Secunda had it released. Some final overdubs by Denny may have been added later prior to the release, but the album already was essentially complete before that. Denny didn’t have anything to do with the cover, that I believe was also down to Tony Secunda or his team. The album was released on Wizard in the UK and Reprise/Warner in the US.
