John's and Paul's voice blended so naturally together but you know, so did Denny's and Paul's - and Linda's. I think Denny's voice has held up a little better over the years but I'd still love it if he and Paul sang together again. I'm like one of those whiners who used to ask when are the Beatles getting back together, but now it's - why can't Laurence, Denny, and whoever else is left from Wings get together again?! :)

I never seen this version with Denny, Band On the Run was one of my favorite songs to cover, yea trying to get it done before the curtain fall on my vocal clarity and range

Did you know, The song was partly inspired by a comment that George Harrison had made during a meeting of the Beatles' Apple record label. The song-wide theme is one of freedom and escape, and its creation coincided with Harrison, John Lennon and Ringo Starr having parted with manager Allen Klein in March 1973, leading to improved relations between McCartney and his fellow ex-Beatles.

Who composed this song at first?
@justanotherrandomcrit81153 жыл бұрын
Based on how many live recording I’ve heard of Denny playing Band on the Run, compared with Paul, I’ve come to the conclusion that he, not Paul, probably the wrote the opening guitar riff.
@garychambers58503 жыл бұрын
Reading up on the song, and album, it said Paul McCartney played mostly all of the guitar and lead guitar parts. So, its more than likely he he wrote and played the opening guitar lick on "Band on the Run" . Its also possible that both he and Denny played the riff together... 🎸🎸

@@garychambers5850 Paul didn’t use a tele during the Band on the Run sessions. Denny did though.

How do you conclude that because Denny played Band on the Run live more than Paul that he wrote the riff? Doesn't make sense. Thousands more people than Paul have performed Yesterday. But that doesn't mean any of them wrote it.

Denny is not a singer, he is a god guitar player. There is not sense to sing McCartney, one of the best vocalist of the world
@seltaeb33023 жыл бұрын
Not a singer! he was lead singer in early Moody Blues & hit Go Now. Do some research rather than start at 1975!

Denny was a great singer, both in Moody Blues, and in Wings. It's just that you can't expect the voice to be the same when people are in their thirties vs in their seventies. That applies to all singers, unfortunately.

He was never a front man! And it's the way he performs. I think his voice had it. He sang OK with Wings but, I never thought he was a good lead singer. He sings pretty good harmony.

@cowsongs3 жыл бұрын
All the instrumental parts, all the guitar parts, are simply fantastic. And then the vocal parts come, and ugh... ... such disappointment. He needs to hire a good singer to play live with. It's not an unheard of thing to have the singer not be the star. Carlos Santana was the 'star' of Santana, but never the singer. The same was true in the J. Geils band.
