how is one supposed to clean the rollers and heads if he has no cleaning cassette?

One thing is sure, this is not Denon who make the mecha....It is quite the same in the Teac r-h500 !

Sounds good, but I dont like these kind of decks. You dont see the cassette and its spinning when you rewind, fast forward, record or play it. When the deck is cheap, it doesnt have a play-security to auto-stop in case of not roll up the tape. Decks like Technics RS-B605 are much better in this way.

Hi - I have one of these and need to check the belt - can you tell me how the casing is removed or do a video for you tube - that would be very helpful - hope you don't mind me asking Many thanks Chris

Hi Chris, I don't have it no more, but I remember there being 5 black screws at the back and 2 silver screws on the sides. That should allow you to get the top off. The belt I changed was the one if you freeze-frame the video at 1:09. You can buy bundles of belts off eBay for cheap price.
