Thanks guys. I graduated in 2019 and I own my own dental practice. It’s sometimes hard not to fall into the trap of imposter syndrome. Very real experience. Thanks again for your incite and story.

amazing, congrats on your fast growth! probably the #1 way to feel like you're "an imposter" is to accelerate your life, but you just gotta keep pushing like you are :)

It gets so much better!!! Don't sweat it and trust the process. Your work in pre-clinical is not at all representative about how you will be working with actual patients. Those mannequin teeth are way harder than actual teeth :)

Thank you for your videos!!!! I really appreciate watching these videos and hearing other people validate my feelings as a new dentist. :( Dentistry is really hard, and I often question my decisions in entering dentistry. Its nice to see that you have retired from dentistry, and that its possible to live a life outside of dentistry. Nice to know that it gets better. :)

This was extremely helpful, it's exatly how I feel. I think it is worth it to think back, what did you do 1 year ago, the improvement usually speaks for itself. (I'm in my 4th year of dentistry, it takes 5 years here in Hungary)

Thanks for this! I'm a third year Dental Student in New Zealand and I can definitely relate! These feelings and experiences are not really spoken about by our tutors here, or senior dentists! It's all part of the journey!

I just got accepted into Dental School a few weeks ago and I constantly get the feeling that I'm not good enough with my hands to be a dentist or that other people who got accepted are better than me with their hands😔

It doesn’t help that IG and FB are full of pictures of amazing clinical work, practicing with next level technology, and people flaunting high income and lavish lifestyles. Social media can be unhealthy even as a practicing dentist.

@@jmey My colleagues used to pick me up in their new Mercedes. I would ask them, "What's the monthly lease payment?" It's all for show. Buy a 3 year old car that's already depreciated and invest the money in a Roth IRA.

Hey Joel! Got a question for you, can you become a registered dental hygienist in the army and can you get a job as a dental hygienist once you’re out the army?

Idk about the Army, but I’m active duty Navy and am currently in dental hygiene school. My program is fully accredited, so when I get out I will be able to get a job as a dental hygienist as long as I maintain my license.

@@juansaldivar8676 The Navy accepts applications every year. The deadline is 30 September for classes starting in May the following year. I put in my application on April 2019 and I didn’t start classes until May 2020.
