Denver Broncos Just Got More Great AFC West News!

Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos just got even more great news out of the AFC West. One of the streaks we did not break last year was our multi year losing streak to the Las Vegas Raiders. I think that streak ends this year for a number of reasons. The first reason is that the history of interim head coaches going on to have sustained success is very low. We've seen a number of coaches who succeed with the interim label who then flame out when they are the head honcho. We've seen that here with Jerry Rosburg, we've seen with the Raiders in Rich Bisaccia. Will Antonio Pierce be like Gregg Williams, Steve Spagnuolo, Romeo Crennel, and Jason Garrett who are able to rally the troops in the short term but not long term impact culture. We also saw the rumor mill kick into full swing as Aaron Rodgers said he can't wait to play with Davonte Adams again which has many thinking the Raiders are set to ship their only offensive talent to the Jets. If the Raiders were to lose their only offensive weapon in the same offseason that they lost Josh Jacobs who always seemed to run over our entire defense, I would have zero fear about facing this offense twice this year. Add into the fact that Gardner Minshew is a mediocre quarterback at best and we are fixin to break that losing streak.

It's wise to be cautiously optimistic. Hope for the best but expect the worst unfortunately. It just is what it is. Every single offseason they hype us up only to be even worse than we could have imagined.

I want to believe this take, but Ben completely glossed over the fact that the Raiders got Brock Bowers in the draft.... you absolutely cannot overlook that guy. He's an animal.

Later on, he could be great. But you also have to remember that, historically, first round TE's tend to be underwhelming. And you can never overestimate a rookie too much, regardless of position. I think this'll actually work out in our favor because Pierce, Adams, etc over at the Raiders very clearly wanted to grab a QB but had to settle for Bowers instead, which might help rattle their confidence in our favor. Yes, he looks good. But there are so many factors and behind-the-scenes variables that go into how his success can be affected or disrupted.

Rookie tight ends usually need time to cook before they're fully functional. Bowers may grow to be a problem eventually, but the first year, he'll just be learning how to be an NFL TE.

I've seen 55 NFL seasons. Maybe 5% of what happens is worth noting for the coming season IMO. A division rival hiring a guy with zero head coaching experience above high school qualifies as something that does. This move seems like a big head scratcher.

I remember when we got Noah Fant right around the same spot in the first round of the draft. We had high expectations of him, too. But they do have a good slot receiver and they're solid on defense. I still think we will break the string of losses to the faders. They're better without McDufus, but we have a better QB and are an all-round better team.

Brother.. Jacoby Myers went for 150 yards and 3 touchdowns last year against the Broncos. The Raiders have Brock Bowers, Michael Myer, and a year 2 QB that torched the broncos at the end of the year. I think you`re reaching a bit here.

I think the goal is to split with each AFC West rival. Chiefs having a very awkward off season; Raiders are making mostly bad moves; and Chargers will be building for two or three years before we have a consistent problem.

Before I go on...The Raiders will be surprising if they make the playoffs. I don't have super high expectations. You said we have no weapons and a bad tight end yet, Jacobi Meyers, Tre Tucker, Two young Very talented tight ends. Devante isn't going anywhere at least for this season. Next season I see him gone because of how much we will owe him. Our QBS are unproven which isn't good but to say we have no weapons is actually false.

I have faith the Broncos will be good, just not right away. Unless Nix breaks out like CJ Stroud. We’ll see growing pains. It’s gonna be bitter sweet. Every year that goes by the Chiefs are getting that much older. Raiders well… are the Raiders & the Chargers will be beatable (next two seasons) I think we’ll see some more flashes but I’m banking the broncos will finish above 500. Beating the chiefs once, Raider twice, and the Chargers once. If we finish with those key wins then maybe we’ll see the post season

I enjoy your content and optimism. There is a lot to be optimistic about. However, I disagree with the sentiment that we improved at every position. Center, Saftey, and QB. I would rather have Nix and I believe he will be better for us, but he is a rookie. It takes time.
