DePaul went with the "Iron Five" -- Jim Mitchem, Gary Garland, Clyde Bradshaw, Curtis Watkins and the freshman sensation Mark Aguirre. Great game that came down to the wire. Includes pre-game and post-game interviews; nice pre-game interview with Indiana State's Bob King. Interesting halftime highlights of the 1979 McDonald's All-American game which includes several future NBA all-stars.

One of the many Colleg and then Pro games that show why Mark Aguirre deserves to be in the Pro Hall of Fame. If Sampson, Yao, and McGrady are in, how can a guy who was so much better than any of them be out??

Thanks for sharing. Basketball was so much better to watch during the era. I have coached over 40 years. The game is so different now. Bird in college is a most view for young kids. He was so much fun to watch.

Wow! This is amazing! Whoever thought that Bird and Aguirre would one day play against each other in the NBA, just like a certain "Magic" man that Bird would face in the title game....

I remember watching this at the age of 10. It was a relief to see a close game after the Michigan State Penn blowout in the other Semifinal. I was disappointed DePaul lost. I wasn't on Indiana State bandwagon.😊
