I don't think they started recording it at that point. Maybe Martin had a couple of demos but he knew they needed a new approach and things were about change compare to previous records

I knew that this interview was in the archive and wished that historicfilms would make it available at some point, but being a pessimist/realist, I didn't think it would ever see the light of day. So thank you _so_ much for uploading it! There's never enough footage of Alan (my favourite member of DM), so it's great to see a classic interview with him. ❤

I can tell it’s 1988 because I am a robot and analyzed the entire internet in a matter of seconds with the sole purpose of figuring out when the heck this was recorded. Also the bird sounds remind me of my old friend, Birdy, who also chirped a lot, quite a lot for a human.

This was awkward from get go interview, reporter seems like a new bee and felt abit timid, but yeah she mentioned 'music for masses ' and tour '88 film shooting what else needs to be said to confirm it's 1988
