Seph, like many here, i am a huge fan since 1986. I was 11 and they have completly formed my taste of music in almost 40 years. Of course i like other music too but any other band was compared to DM by me. And fucking no one could ever just come close to the Mode.nThey were always the masters! I think you started your DM expierence 1 year ago and their process in the last 20 years is harder to take if you did not grow up with their music…. Just my thoughts…

One of the best songs in the album. It's not distortion, its Martin doing harmony along with Dave, there's a lot of songs when they do the same and the contrast between both voices make that kind of effect.

Nothing's Impossible...one of the most depressing (instrumentally) and positive (lyrically) songs, it is definitely in my top 10 songs by the band, and obviously it is not a hit like the Singles, but it does not seek to be one either, and the approach of This song with your effects perfectly manages to give it that melancholic aura, it is a song that can even be listened to to drown your sorrows. I personally love that guitar riff and the voices with those effects, Dave is the one who sings but in the choruses it's Dave and Martin together. I think it's an excellent song (as long as we see it from the atmosphere that was tried to be created for this song and how well done it is, the production is quite good like the entire album, and it is one of those songs like The Sinner in Me which have a very dark sound with distortions and guitars present, basically it is the sound of the album and gives it a lot of personality) I emphasize this because with the last 2 albums of the band (and the last one is also good at the level of this ) the sonic personality of making albums that have their own identity in terms of sound is being lost a little, or at least it is not as noticeable as before. (the most popular case would be Songs of Faith and Devotion which has its own sound totally different from other albums by the band

DM is not a mainstream band. They don’t create radio compatible music. Their music is dark and weird, specially in the post-Alan-era. And this is good. To understand their albums you should hear it multiple times. A first time reaction is not the best way to discover and understand DM.

I wouldn’t say this. But most of the songs open their mood after a second listen. It’s the same for me. To understand my todays favourite DM songs I had to listen multiple times to it. Nevertheless, music is always subjective and everybody has its own preferences. I like your reaction, even if we have not always the same favourites. 😊

When you react to Rock am Ring concert 2006 one day, you'll hear the live version of this song (it's not included on the Live in Milan DVD). It sounded MUCH better live, no robots voice and much less distortions. Sounds like a completely different song live in fact. Gives some great goosebumbs. One of the best Dave written songs.

This is one of the best songs on this album, everything about it. Peter Gordeno and Christian Eigner joined the band and have been writing with the Dave songs and in the latest album Memento Mori they were only part of writing and the technical programming of Dave's written only tracks, Peter does Keyboard and bass guitar and Eigner does the drums but really they are part of the live band not official members.

Hi Seph ! As other members suggested, maybe you should give a listen to the demo version of this song : I do prefer the general mood and the production on the demo track as well even though the final version is ok to me ^^. Maybe for a change, you could react to a Depeche Mode interview. There's a really cool one where you get to see a glimpse at the behind the scenes during the Songs of Faith & Devotion era called "A Conversation with Mr. Gambaccini " dating from 1993 with the 4 members. 😉 Some interesting moments captured on camera.

Personally i like this one, I enjoy the effect they put on Dave's voice , it isn't the first time they have, it is just the most noticeable one. It isnt like the auto tune that most singers use, goth and other electronic acts have used weird filters on the voice for songs for ages, it is just on how it is used for me on if i like it or not.The other members you are thinking of are a keyboardist and drummer , fans are mixed on how they feel about them, for myself i am not a fan, but thats me. This song and about the instrumental's I'll have to disagree with you on.

Wow, I thank the algorithm I just found your channel. I can't wait to check your reaction to everything Depeche Mode! In regards to your opinion on this song, imagine how Dave's voice would sound if it wouldn't have the effect (which I think its effect + Martin voice). The song's music is pretty distorted, if the voices were not like that it wouldn't properly fit... Or at least I think so. Are you going in order, reacting to all songs? If so, you're about to reach to my absolute favourite DM song, The Darkest Star. That song was never played live, and not many people think about it, but to me is 🔥. Can't wait to hear what you think of it.

No it is not a new official fourth band member of Depeche Mode. Depeche at this point is officially Dave, Martin and Andy - until recently when it became just Dave and Martin. However, they brought in two new people for their live performances, a drummer and a keyboard player. They are not officially part of the band, although they regularly participate in all live performances and also contribute some songwriting etc. We quite often do roughly the same analyzes of their songs. Sometimes, however, opinions diverge, such as here. This kind of dark and bombastic songs, to which Nothing's impossible can be added, belongs to Depeche Mode's DNA. And missing on the previous softer launch bar influenced Exciter album. You can certainly almost hear that it is not a Martin-written song. - He is usually a bit more complex in his chord structure than this shows. But there were, and still are, many of us DM fans who like this dark and majestic song.

I grew up with Depeche Mode, and my first concert was in Rimini, in 1986, and I had already been listening to them for three years, and growing up with their music, the same feeling that Seph felt in this video is the same as mine. , because this song like many of them in the 2000s are all different from how I knew them. And seph makes me understand that it's not about growing up with their music over the years that you have to understand them, but also listening to them for the first time today, that you understand that they were a particular, interesting, unique genre at the beginning of their career, certainly not today.

This is one of Dave's songs that he wrote, with help. See, back in 2003 he came out with a solo album with songs that he wrote, with help, and it was actually pretty decent. So he thought he was the second coming of Dylan and now insists on having songs on DM albums. Usually he'll have one really good one and the rest are throwaway. This is one of the throwaways. Remember we warned you. Get through this album, the next one's much better.
