Wow I'm surprised watching this video, we have the same taste in music. Depeche mode has been my favorite since I was a teenager, just as Pet Shop Boys and Erasure have been my favorite bands. I live in Colombia, South America and I never thought to see this band live, the year they came to my country for the first time I turned 40 years old in the days around the concert and in that year I gave myself the best birthday present I have ever had in life. See my favorite band live, in conclusion I cried like a child all the songs. Same my favorite Somebody. Very Happy finding this channel !

Hi, i bet that was an amazing moment for you, I've not seen Erasure live but have tickets for next year!!

You really brought back the wide eyed excitement I felt as a teenager seeing all those singles on the 81-85 album. I also hit the second-hand shops soon after to gather up every past release I could find!

Great video and you do really good on camera. Huge collector myself of DM and other Mute related stuff. Love those old records and even though i'm in my 40's I still often sit and look at them remembering the excitement of adding them to my collection :) Cheers from Denmark and looking forward to watching more of your videos.

I remember having the “Question of Lust” single when it came out. I thought that sleeve was so beautiful and loved it so much. I was so upset when someone ruined it. I was hoping you’d have it in your collection, and it was lovely seeing it again. Thank you for sharing!

I have a white t-shirt with the cover artwork on it. But it was well-worn back in the 80s :-) .

Every single DM 7” I bought brand new on import here in the states as a young teen.. from Dreaming of Me to Personal Jesus (gatefold) and World in My Eyes...have been destroyed in a flood from a plumbing problem in our home we just moved into 6 months prior. I am still devastated. Happened last summer. They were all perfect. I had them all for around 20 years.

djkenny - I feel that. Same thing happened to me. A flood in town and my whole record collection in the basement was destroyed, not only my DM stuff. I kept the records down there to let them dry. A year ago I decided to make a list of what was lost and what I wanted to replace (used Discogs for that). Brought the records up. All the covers had fused together and the records had fused to the inner sleeves. There was mold, dirt and discolouration. I had to tear everything to pieces but I was able to document what I needed to start rebuilding again. And it’s been quite fun since. Some of the new reissues are fantastic. The 12” collections, for example.

very nice collection. i got into depeche mode in 82-83, and kept up with them up to music for the masses, which i didn't care for, and gave up on them after that. i did keep buying the singles though. now i've been going back, and i got all the recent 12 inch reissue boxsets. so that made me want to go back and fill in all the gaps for their UK, and US 7 and 12 inches, and all the limited and special editions. i've also been buying all the cds and cdsingles too. i buy items from a lot of other groups too. so its going to take me a long time to get this to where i want, but i'm concentrating on getting all the cheapest 7 inch singles first, and alternating with some rare items. i buy most from discogs, but sometimes from ebay. i don't ever play any of the records, and i rip the cds if there is something new. i have all their tracks on digital to listen to. i will enjoy watching, and catching up on all your videos. later -1

Still have my original 12"s, collecting since '86. I've never had any 7"s, but wish I did. The US 12" version of It's Called a Heart was my first single.

You leave me impressed with your collection. I am DM fan since 1988 when I bought "Music For The Masses" A lot of memories popped into my mind with your video. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about your Depeche Mode collection. Greetings from Barcelona.

Great first video. I discovered DM way back in 1984/5. They basically changed who I was made me see the world totally different. And I agree “Somebody” is DM. And it’s my personal fav.

Great video Nic! I collected Depeche 12" singles back in the day (and kept hold of them). More recently it's been fun tracking down the 7" singles and enjoying those great sleeves which are usually variations of the larger artwork and the occasional mix that wasn't on the 12".

oh fantastic, there is nothing quite like the joy of finding a record for your collection... I am really enjoying building the collection back up and finding lots of new stuff I never had the first time round... Loving listening to all the b-sides, remixes etc too... so much music....

While I collected 12" singles back in the day, I didn't buy 7"es very much. I think the first DM one I bought was "It's Called a Heart" because it came with a poster. And the same 7 BONG 7E that you have. Also the same Personal Jesus 7" because it was gatefold. But since I switched to CDs in the late 90s (and never looked back on vinyl), a friend has slowly been giving me 7"es for birthyday/Christmas, and I have to admit that it's cool looking at the covers. About six months ago, I picked up a bunch of old DM German/Intercord CD singles from a fellow Canadian. I was quite happy to fill in the gaps, since I didn't even own a CD player until 1994. Have fun collecting. You're lucky to be in the UK, where it's so much easier to find. Oh well, I still have fun scouring thrift stores for cheap used CDs. Good luck with Pet Shop Boys. Their stuff is much harder to find than DM or Erasure, since they didn't get repressed as often (if at all).

I envy you your collection, even if some are missing! I used to have every single one of their albums in 12” and CD and all of their singles before 1997, and every one of them were stolen from me. I’m so happy that your discovery relit your spark, though! Idea: you should have DM softly playing in the background!!!

Great collection you have there, very nice idea with those stickers having the chart numbers on. Sold my music collection a while back as well and sometimes regret it, maybe I'll restart one day as well... Love Depeche Mode, great band - some of my favourites are world in my eyes and walking in my shoes. Freelove is a great one too! Hard to find a bad one really... Great video :)

Thanks, Walking In My Shoes is a favourite of mine too... one day I will attempt to narrow down a top 10 DM tracks and make a video... it won't be easy!!!

Hi, I'm also a DM fan since 1987 with music for the masses, then 101 and of course violator that is also me the best one. I also regret A. W. departure from the group he was really a big part of the band. Thanks also to speak an English that is easier to understand for a French guy like me..

I've been going pretty full on rebuilding my vinyl collection. Just discovered your channel and this video is so relatable. I've been a fan since Black Celebration was released. Amazing! How's your collection going these days? PSB are amazing - just saw them a month ago on the Dreamworld tour. Possibly the best gig I've ever been to!

I’ve just found DM again after many years, if you want to fill your gaps get to some Polish outdoor markets, I’ve picked up some amazing 12’ and picture discs and most of the original albums including several coloured vinyl albums. Erasure yeah, other one 👎 Also try Allegro.pl ( it’s the polish gumtree/eBay)
