Depeche Mode's version of "Sundown" is inspired by the Scott Walker cover and not the original Gordon Lightfoot version. Hear Scott Walker sing this song, it's the DM version line. Regardless of comparisons, I found the version sensational! Even more so when I found out that this song was on the playlists that the late Mark Lanegan sent to Dave saying that he would like to hear them in Dave's voice (they were friends and fans of each other. A pity that Mark left so soon... .I'm sure the two would do something impressive together). Well everything I'm seeing happening with DM right now is just amazing!! How lucky to witness Depeche Mode claiming their place for good in the music business! How lucky to be able to see them making history once again! What an infinite joy to see them continue their brilliant career in such a dignified and coherent way with their history. When so many artists with extensive careers limit themselves to staying in their comfort zone and offering more of the same to their audience, DM delivers to the world and its fans, an UNPRECEDENTED and spectacular album, a grandiose tour and a beautiful and moving lesson of life. Thank you God for being able to witness this! Thank you Dave, Martin, Andy, Alan and Vince. For everything. Eternal DM. 🖤🌹❤️

This period of Depeche Mode is really weird. It's the band I've known and loved since i was a teenager... Over 30 years... Sounding like they always have, but COMPLETELY renewed. It's such a beautiful thing to experience. I feel like I'm discovering my favourite band for the first time... All over again. 🖤

First band I saw live. Black celebration Tour. Seen them a few times subsequently but not for 30 years. Booked for Twickenham and I can't wait. I don't think I've ever seen them so revitalised and motivated and (amazingly for a 40 something old band) relevant . The new album is stunning.. Daves voice is sublime.. Bring on Twickenham

It's a cover of song called Sundown by Gordon Lightfoot. But this version is closer to cover by Scott Walker. I think idea of piano room is to have one new song, one rearranged and one cover. All with BBC Orchestra. Other two are on BBC channel.
