Lyrics:
You've been kept down
You've been pushed 'round
You've been lied to
You've been fed truths
Who's making your decisions
You or your religion
Your government, your countries
You patriotic junkies
Where's the revolution
Come on people
You're letting me down
Where's the revolution
Come on people
You're letting me down
You've been pissed on
For too long
Your rights abused
Your views refused
They manipulate and threaten
With terror as a weapon
Scare you till you're stupefied
Wear you down until you're on their side
Where's the revolution
Come on people
You're letting me down
Where's the revolution
Come on people
You're letting me down
The train is coming
The train is coming
The train is coming
The train is coming
So get on board
Get on board
Get on board
Get on board
The engine's humming
The engine's humming
The engine's humming
The engine's humming
So get on board
Get on board
Get on board
Get on board
Where's the revolution
Come on people
You're letting me down
Where's the revolution
Come on people
You're letting me down

What's all the fuss about? Seriously, that's what artists do, they put their feelings and events happening around them in their art and express it. There's a bunch of songs like this for plenty of musicians. Just enjoy the music. I like it. And besides, this totally feels like Depeche Mode, goes with their music style

There's been so many people bitching not only about this single and the upcoming album, but also about every album that's ever been since Alan left. Then when people aren't complaining about that, they're complaining about cover art, set lists, ticket prices, who's producing. Whether they're not electronic enough, or if they're too bluesy, or most laughable of all is why they're "suddenly" going political. I mean seriously? Alright, I get you can't please everyone and that everyone's entitled to their opinion. There's bound to be some disagreement, but fuck! The sheer volume of negativity is insane. It's spread across just about every Depeche post on Facebook, every video and news article I've come across these past few months. Then there's me just sat here excited that there's a new material to look forward to. Sod all the miserable gits - I say it's great to have you back, guys. Wish you all good health and happiness on the next tour. Be seeing you if you come to Manchester or Leeds this time around.

This is my favourite DM comment ever. I still love them as a trio. Fuck off with the "I want Alan back". It's been TWO DECADES!!! Actually, don't come back. I want to piss off all the whiners. I love this new song more every time I play it!!
@GaryOldmanFan
@GaryOldmanFan 7 жыл бұрын
Hey! Haha, thanks! I know, it's crazy, isn't it? You'd think people would have moved on by now. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Alan at all, either personally or professionally, I just don't understand this obsessive need to have him back. In my opinion, the essence of what makes Depeche - and what has always made Depeche - is the dynamic between Dave and Martin; how they balance and enhance one another's talents. It just works, it always has. Me, too. Had it on repeat for like forty minutes. It feels like the most relevant song in the world right now.

I don't get the fundamentals of having expectations towards a band. It's art. You either like it or not, even have your own opinion about it, but never ever have the right to whine and cry like a spoiled baby for not getting what you wanted. Anyway, I'm lookig forward to the entire album, this is not a standalone single after all.

Thank you, doyoulikebeetroot! I couldn't agree more with you on that. I would say that listening to DM requires one to continously develop in mind and soul. It is what you make out of it for your inner self that counts the most. In my case this is kind of a private activity, quasi intimate. Well there is one specific situation when I am confortable to share certain DM songs with another person... :P

I go way back to speak n spell and own every CD... seen them live 9 times ... absolutly love them.... but music is too enjoy and you enjoy what you enjoy... I LOVE everything through Violator ... then it got tough for me to like it all ... that's just being honest .. Allen left and everything got too earthy and slower... some good stuff but I couldn't play the CDs over and over or enjoy them in the same way... I understand evolving but I don't have to love everything that I hear just cause I love a band... this new track is promising and of coarse I'll buy it ... I love Depeche Mode but saying that everything they have ever done is super awsome is just not honest

I've been a huge DM fan since the early days. They used to make different sounding albums each time. When I hear this I instantly hear their song "corrupt." Really, listen to this and then to corrupt. Some of the melodic parts are exactly the same. And the styling is the same as everything in the previous 3 albums. The song is OK, but they need to get uncomfortable again. Just to change things up. I don't want another SOFAD or Violator and I don't want another Delta Machine. We've been there. I want them to challenge us, the fans and take us to new places. I know they think they are fine without Alan and they don't like to answer questions about him. Fine, don't apologize to him and satisfy fans and move your work forward, but get producers that push the band. Flood did that and the band doesn't want to work with him again despite creating two albums that the majority of fans revere (and the band member) as the best they've ever done and at the same time sound completely different from one another. Martin is a brilliant song writer, but he needs someone to take the structure of what he does and create dynamics, atmospheres and help the song develop emotionally. This song has it in the bones. It just needs some elaboration.

Brilliant song. Clear lyrics while painful to recognize the truth in each line of it. There's a global mess on the planet and people are frustrated as the comments also reflect it here. No matter which country or continent you live in the message is evident. Perfect track for the live shows. Sorry for the fans who stuck in the '80s.

b.cage Uhm...nope. Nice rave BTW. "Soldiers who died for the flag and your freedom" should read "soldiers who died for the vested interests of the 0.1%-ters, misusing the patriotism of the 99.9%-ters". I'll take it up with you any day. Tell me a single war that did not take place because of the vested interest of your OWN establishment. Just one....

Revolution is the change of self that comes from inside first. This song promotes the change within ourselves. It's an invitation to rediscover ourselves and open our minds, break the chains of what was inflicted upon us from media, relgion, society in general. It's a wake up call. DM always promoted that within their music and celebrated essence of spiritual being of human race.

C'mon people, you're letting me down! Just LISTEN to this song, don't stare at this non-existent animation, and you'll hear the brilliance! They pulled Violator and Ultra sounds out from the vaults :))) Too subjective, but they're back, and in 2017. that's enough for me :)))

JoeWonk "This is no revolution, blah blah blah..." People are forgetting THEY gave us REVOLUTION long time ago. They WERE the revolution. And, as a HC DM fan, all I can say is - no band "has it" for XXXX albums in a row. It's DM, and they have a standard they're not going below, on ANY album. Guess I'll be fine in March :)

The Train is coming section is where the brilliance happens, i wanted that to then just climax and transcend their original statement of the chorus but it didn't quite happen for me, however this may be a grower! Have not got into any DM albums since Exciter myself..... I'm almost ashamed to say!

This is about as nonpartisan you can get with a "political" song. It can so easily be interpreted as liberal leaning or conservative leaning.
@chemistryphdn
@chemistryphdn 7 жыл бұрын
No, you can't. They say at one point at the beginning "patriotic junkies". Conservatives identify themselves more patriotic than then Democrats, which lean more towards the open border perspective. Hopefully not all the album will be political. I know they did political tracks before, but this looks a bit too partisan. That was my 2 cents.

We probably need money, in one form or another. But I must admit that money has to much power and this power is abused by banks and the industrie. Democracy has its flaws and as I currently see it that political parties discuss to much internaly and not enough with diffrent parties. I belive/hope that most people in politics want to make the world or at least their own country a better place. But in many decissions there isn´t a clear best way to do things and the decisions taken over years aren´t part of one cohesend politic, but of many. Depending about which political parties are forming the goverment each cycle. Another problem about our democracy is that politician/paries must think about reelections. This lets them make some laws that only sounds good, but wich are either bad inplemented or are bad thought through and are only there to create a better public oppinion. Thats a part of my view on the world, form here in germany and I´m sorry that I probably didnt found the best world to discribe my thoughts, I dont comment things that often especially in english.
