The collaged birds turned out great. Like that you didn't give up on the bubbles. Lovely backing papers to use too. Those metallic paints are gorgeous.

Froyle does amazing gel prints in her youtube videos. She says that a good laser copy of a photograph makes a good image transfer 😊

Those birds are phenomenal! I have to give that technique a try. It’s good to see that I am not the only one who struggles with those geli plates 😂. I have a very tiny one but really can’t do much with it. Yours really did turn out beautiful. You have several lovely pages. And I’m glad you included them in your journal. Hugs 🤗❤️

I bought one of those funny yucky things 😂months ago and have been too nervous to try it. I appreciate you giving it a go and sharing when things don’t work. New year resolution get gelli print out of the packet. Loved the birds. Thank you for sharing.

Wow, love those birds! I also find gelli printing a bit confounding. For 2024 I vow to play with it more and figure it out.

The photo transfer is tricky. Very thin layer of paint is necessary. Your photo should have enough contrast, but is it printed on a laser printer? Some artists double print what they want to transfer-they print it twice with the prints on top of each other because they want lots of toner. Finally, they don’t leave it on the plate for long. I appreciate that you tried it and when it didn’t work, you came up with another idea!

I like your scrappy birds and the addition of the salvage edge of the fabric (not sure how to spell that 😂). Thanks for the inspiration ❤ I am also trying to get used to the gel plate 😅

Love your scrappy birds. Besides my art journals I also am a quilter. So taking scraps of fabric mixed with paper is a great creative process that I truly enjoy. Thanks for all your inspiration. Mariaknits27 💃🏻💕📚🧵🧶🏠🧘🏽‍♀️☕️🕯️

Melanie, I think that print has to be a certain type .. it has to be shiny type one like the ones from a magazine. Or the printer needs to be the one with toner on it..😊

Such lovely birds, I have to give it a try, thanks for sharing your tests ! Such a laugh when I saw you with the gelpress, no way it could have worked😅 but I have never tried the image transfer on fabric, did you print your photo on a special paper ?

Hi thanks for watching, the printed image for the transfer was just using normal standard copy paper but I understand you can get better results using photo quality paper I also pulled it apart impatiently after 10 minutes, there maybe different results if had been left it to dry and then soaked the paper off. With the gelli transfer, doesn't it depend on what printer is used in terms of ink? I can't remember whether it needs to be ink jet or laser though. Very nice pieces 😊

Hi, yes you are absolutely right, I needed a laser print but I had ink jet… although I still feel there’s a way of doing it with an ink jet print by using a presentation quality paper. I’ll have to try it again. On the video when I was editing I could see there was a very faint transfer that I hadn’t noticed at the time, I might not have left it on the plate long enough for a mono print! More learning needed here on my part. Thanks for watching and leaving me a kind comment 🍄🦋
