In this video, I’m going to tell you how eating flavonoids rich foods can have a positive effect on our psychological state and combat depression. I’m also going to explain how you could try a personal experiment: over several weeks to see if consuming vast amounts of flavonoid-rich foods has a positive effect, you would do a happiness/depression questionnaire test at the beginning and end of the experiment to test the effects.
Studies have shown that consumption of foods high in flavonoids directly increases positive psychology, happiness, feelings of satisfaction in life and a general sense of well-being.
In high enough doses, some flavonoids can have antidepressant effects equivalent to antidepressant drugs Prozac (fluoxetine) and imipramine.

I have essentially eaten this diet for 4 years and can confirm, diet helps, but isn’t the whole. Recently started taking 5mg of lithium orotate and the clearing of brain fog and sharpness of cognitive function is so obvious. So thankful to have found this channel.

That’s excellent. You are absolutely right that diet alone is not enough to heal the brain, it would be so nice if it was and many people have the idealistic belief that a good diet is all you need; many Dr’s say all you need to do is eat a balanced diet and supplements are a waste of time. If ever a Dr says this to you ask them if they personally always eat a perfect diet... If you find lithium orotate helps you could try experimenting with other remedies that also boost neuroplasticity. I’ll be making more videos on this I 2021. Also test taking a combination that reduces neuro-inflammation, then oxidative stress, mitochondrial disjunction. Add HIIT exercises and meditation brain training exercises to change the way you manage stress responses. Good luck with your healing healing journey :-)

@@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments I have watched your other videos on lithium orotate and will be experimenting with other remedies that you suggested, incrementally to gauge their effects. Just to provide a better picture of my health, I’ve exercised vigorously since I was 14 for sports (27), and have explored meditation for about 4 years (which to me, is when repetitive thought patterns, ie the ego, ceases). Will need to gather more data obviously, but lithium seems to have been the missing ingredient. I look forward to more videos, thank you!

I am going to try this! Thank you. I have been eating low carb, Mediterranean by emphasizing good oils and Whole Foods, and while I have lost weight. I haven’t really noticed improved moods. Also, I have stress induced anxiety so hoping the lithium will address that and depression.

Woah! These are all my favorite foods to eat. I recently got off antidepressants once I didn't have to work so much and was able to devote more time to cooking. A great way to eat carrots, peppers, onions and sweet potatoes is in a curry! I also usually do brown rice, coconut milk, ginger root, tumeric and chickpeas in it too. I eat blueberries in my oatmeal in the morning or make a smoothie with other fruits and plant based protein. Cutting diary and meat out of my diet was also really helpful. I get my protein from spinach, nuts and beans now. I also take vitamins. My mental health is great and I am no longer on antidepressants or antianxiety drugs. I used to have panic attacks with seizure like muscle spasms. Haven't had any of that since changing my diet.

Excellent, well done. I saw a study suggesting for everyone portion of coloured plant foods you eat you reduce your propensity to depression by 3%, I usually get my patients to do 12 portions or more a day which is the study is right would equate to a 36% reduction in the propensity towards depression! That's quite a lot. Look at Dr Gregor's website and KZfaq Channel called nutrition facts online and you'll find lots more useful videos in flavonoids, polyphenols and also how different cooking methods affects the flavonoids and polyphenols in specific foods. The levels of polyphenols in character example is unchanged by cooking (although they can be leached out into the water if you boil them), polyphenols in peppers on the other hand are degraded by all cooking methods and therefore these should be eating raw, celery and tomatoes on the other hand deliver more polyphenols when cooked. I can't wait to see more foods being tested with different cooking methods. Good luck with your healing journey.

Planned dosing feedback, please! I plan to start, tomorrow, with 2.5mg for 8 days and then move to 5mg for about a month. And then if that doesn’t work then go to 10mg. I share your concerns about toxicity so hoping that’s the max for me. I plan to supplement with EPA fish oil, vitamin D2+K2, zinc and bcomplex mainly. Then I do green smoothies with dried cilantro and parsley to address heavy metals. And I eat low carb mostly, except right before mense to address progesterone up-regulation (Dr. Mindy Peltz).

Thanks, I'm glad you like the video, it wasn't particularly popular a successful but I think it's really important. Keep rocking those smoothies and soups. Look at the work of Dr Gregor on KZfaq, you'll give you more ideas on polyphenols and flavonoids, and also he has a video about the new scientific discovery that microwaves do not destroy polyphenols and flavonoids contrary to popular belief. For me this has been a great discovery, we know freezing preserves them as well so what I'm going to start doing is once a month making a huge pan of soup and freezing it and then reheating individual portions in the microwave. This will be so timesaving.

@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments
@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments 5 ай бұрын
Different salts pass through the body very differently, so lithium carbonate, citrate, orotate etc work differently. This is hard science not a matter of opinion. Glad to here you found something that works for you but please don’t give incorrect information, they are not the same as and require different doses.

so sorry for all my questions youre just a hugely knowledgable guy. My father is an alcoholic. he has been what i would call a functioning alcoholic for as long as i can remember, however now it is taking its toll. he is starting to develop anxiety and depression.... he is now reluctant to leave the house and suffers quite badly. now getting him to do a full set of supplements right now would be impossible. however, would exercise help him? i know exercise is a big BDNF booster as well as great for rewiring the brain. would exercise be able to help his depression and anxiety brought on by alcohol? and then he can slowly wean off the alcohol over a period of months

@@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments Thanks for the link. I'm going to try those brownies out. I've been plant based since the begining of the pandemic but I'm going to focus on the polyphenols to see what happens.
@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments
@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments 3 жыл бұрын
@@ashleyzeleznik5388 Plant based diet high in polyphenols/flavonoids and omega-3 fish oils is a great way to reduce inflammation in the brain that drives mental health problems. The plant-based omega-3 oils are not strong enough all have the right balance of EPA to DHA for many mental health problems, so I'm plant based except for my high EPA fish oil supplement. I tried to be plant based many times but I couldn't get it to sustain me until I discovered all I had to do was supplement half a teaspoon of creating every day to make up for the creating otherwise available in meat and animal foods. Obviously as I'm sure you know you must supplement B12 and D3 and keep omega-3 oils high and omega 6 oils low. Good luck with your healing journey :-)

What about blue/purple corn masa to make tortillas? Does that count as a high flavonoid food?
@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments

Hi, Your understanding is right go for right colours so purple corn is a great source of flavanoids, but unfortunately, the high temperatures of frying will destroy most of the flavonoids, choose another way of eating purple corn.

Hi Sir will this help for those who has schizophrenia?
@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments
@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments Жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely, people with schizophrenia should eat a very brain healthy diet. It may not have much of an immediate therapeutic effect on the schizophrenia but one important goal of living with schizophrenia is to protect the brain from oxidative stress and inflammation. Oxidative stress and inflammation are high in the schizophrenic brain and increase the risk of developing cognitive impairment and dementia. This diet is optimum for this purpose. Good luck with your healing journey.
