Es geht durch die Welt ein Geflüster
Arbeiter, hörst due s nicht?
Das sind die Stimmen der Kriegsminister
Arbeiter, hörst du sie nicht?
Es flüstern die Kohle- und Stahlproduzenten
Es flüstert die chemische Kriegsproduktion
Es flüstert von allen Kontinenten
Mobilmachung gegen die Sowjetunion!
Arbeiter, Bauern, nehmt die Gewehre
Nehmt die Gewehre zur Hand.
Zerschlagt die faschistische Räuberherde
Setzt eure Herzen in Brand!

The East German government restored the statue to Prussian King Frederick the Great in the center of Berlin, had guards permanently stationed at Prussian General Carl von Clausewitz's grave and had medals dedicated to Prussian Generals such as Scharnhorst and Blücher.

This song is so clever from a propaganda standpoint for the Soviet Union. 1:08 It identifies the enemies, the capitalists, bandits and the non-communist world and informs us that they intend to mobilize against the Soviets. And that a thrust against the Soviets is a thrust against "the home of socialism" and therefore all socialism. It tells you to forgo race and nationality and simultaneously calls for you to fight for the defense of the Soviet Union. And it does not feel like a contradiction for it has already established that this is not about nationality - This is you (the proletariat) vs. them (the Masters of the World). Ah. It's so good!

They weren't wrong, though. After the reunification (or annexation, however you wanna put it) of the GDR into the FRG basically all heavy industry, which was previously owned by all East Germans, was placed in the ownership of a fund that was to be democratically governed to benefit the East German people. Not that much time later, however, that fund was dissolved and all that industrial machinery and infrastructure was sold off cheap to wealthy owning-class West Germans. The West German people were allowed to lay claims on lands that were supposedly theirs (including farmland and other private property) while the East German people weren't generally approved when they made claims in return. Nowadays we have whole villages getting disappropriated so that coal companies can mine coal under where they are located, even though the coal industry is supposed to be abolished within the coming years. I personally thing that this song was being quite honest. If you want capitalism to win, sure. If you think that the narratives told to you about what happened east of the iron curtain are accurate and thus socialism had to be abolished, I can't really stop you. But claiming that this was just "clever framing" is funny when you consider that this is exactly what happened. Socialist countries cut into the profits of global capital because they do not allow foreign ownership of their natural resources. That's why you see Cuba under Siege while 72% of modern dictatorships receive military aid from the United States.

@@imatreebelieveme6094 I think you can't deny what happened in the eastern bloc, people did starve and were oppressed because of devastating policies instated by the communist parties. Socialism wasn't abolished, because it was never established. In socialism the workers have the power and get to decide how the country is run, but obviously the workers didn't exactly like what was happening, thus it wasn't socialism. I don't understand your last sentence though

He was quite a guy. In the 1940s, he traveled to Spain to fight against the fascists. He got caught and arrested multiple times but was able to flee. Later, in the DDR, he had the balls to slap Honecker, the leader of the communist party, in the face because he disagreed with him. An amazing actor and singer, even though he never really learned to read musical notes.

Da hat jemand ziemlich exakt vorhergesehen was kommt.

I'm not even Communist, but damn I never knew Communists always make bangers. This is like God top-tier music. Whenever there's Communist songs that aren't from Russia, but instead they're from Germany, I like to call it "Red Germany" or "Revolutionist Germans". I actually like this more than "Auferstanden Aus Ruinen", "March of Volunteers," "State Anthem of USSR", and "Deutschlandlied". If I were to have a tier list, I would put this song in S tier.
