The reason young kids beg to wear the number, hoping a little bit of his magic might be with them in the jersey. Never thought I would see Derek Jeter on Knuckleheads. As a lifelong New York Yankees fan and a supporter of Knuckleheads this is special to me. Proud to say I've witnessed Derek Jeter win his 5th World Series Championship and become the all-time hits leader of the New York Yankees live in person at Yankee Stadium.

I believe this might be first time for any new show in a while, and definitely first time in person, but it's awesome to have you guys back. I was worried you guys wouldnt continue. This is by far the best interview format show right now, and for as long as I can remember, and while sports is the superficial topic, it's about life. Hearing about the backstories of people I paid attention to and saw performing throughout their entire professional playing careers, with varying degrees of success in the individual and team contexts, sitting down and talking about the backstories, it's really fascinating and instructive on so many things I think all people are always thinking about in one way or another - success, disappointment, talent, merit, opportunity, hard work, teamwork, selfishness, the game within the game, the midrange game, the true meaning of Christmas and why Secret Santa is not a game, Voshon Leonard. I can't break it down into a formula, but I would say you guys are effective at shedding light on these various points with your guests because you are just trying to make sense of your experiences with your guests doing the same, and no one has any answers except to share their own experiences and stories, with no particular point they are trying to make to anyone in particular. Jeter is interesting and got me thinking more about how talent, hard work, dedication and all other positive attributes play into success, but also about how accidental and random it all can be with him emphasizing how he ended up in majors when he did because of an injury to another player - would Jeter have been successful as he was if that player had not injured himself and had another 4 to 5 years or more quality years that could have kept Jeter in minor leagues during that time and everything that would entail? What if he had decided or been forced to become a pitcher because of circumstances, or a decision by him or coach's/organization, then he would be a player who wouldn't be playing every game and not have all the opportunities to be as clutch as he was. Jeter never blew up in any major statistical category where you could look at it and say that's a superstar, but he was so solid and had these remarkable plays like that f#@$@n cut off to prevent A's from scoring at home im still speechless about because Jeter ran all the way to the first base line to do it (never seem that happen), it was a unique moment in the series, and I still can't figure out whether it was dumb to even try it, keenly intelligent, athletically amazing, or what but it was just epic - it also could have led the A's to the moneyball strategy that yielded the same results if not worse than the franchise had had while leading to a great sports movie where my girlfriend at the time actually wanted to see it (I guess it was probably brad pitt), and the adoption of statistical analysis to the NBA and the end of the midrange game (the Big Dog speaks truth about why you need to have that no matter what analytics say). It's just all fun to ponder and try to figure out the meaning of it all. I also want to tell you guys I was in LA during your Clippers team and will never forget what you guys did just that one year you were together. I remember specifically thinking very long and hard about splurging on a D. Miles jersey when I would see it in the mall, which was relatively frequently, but ultimately I couldn't overcome that I do look ridiculous wearing a jersey (some people can and it's really about confidence in yourself to make it work, and observable muscles in arms) and that it was something so good I couldn't rely on Clippers not messing it up (which they promptly did after trading D. Miles after one year when putting up numbers showing exactly what one should see as superstar trajectory in first year out of high school, which I think off the top of my head was about 9 points a game and I recently compared numbers to first year stats of garnetts and some other high school to NBA players that no one would dispute as stars and there wasnt much discernible difference with garnetts nor the others - in other words, it was exactly what one would want to have seen to think they had made an excellent choice with a top pick and no coherent line of thought could be connected to then trade you.) Anyway, what you guys accomplished in LA was special - making the Clippers cool, fun, and with a future. I just have personal experience with that part of your careers so I wont even go on about the 50 pt game, Q's known and respected marksmanship from downtown, playoff appearances, and on and on. Now I am considering again buying a D. Miles jersey and will get it if I see one somewhere and possibly order it off internet too, and I will wear it cuz now I'm middle aged and don't give a f#$& about what others think of me and my fashion cuz I know Im cool. Glad to have you guys back.
