I was diagnosed a couple years ago. Kids, if you are listening, this is a very expensive and difficult disease. Life expectancy is 12-15 years on average. Because you don't get enough oxygen, you are tired all the time. You don't go out, you don't have friends over, you cook what is easiest if at all. And when it is time to let go? You basically suffocate to death. So, kids, do NOT smoke anything, stay active, breathe fresh air whilst your toes are naked in the grass, and dammit hug a tree. All of these help. Please let your future be better than mine.

@@nayanikanath8949 both, unfortunately. Smoking for over 50 years will do that. I'm sorry about your diagnosis.

@@nayanikanath8949 Rare to get this and a nonsmoker. Seems quite unfair to me, and I am sorry! Strength and health to you as well. Recently found out I am allergic to the medicines they give, so I am using mullein and thyme to help with symptoms. I gather the stuff from my garden and make a tea out of them. It seems almost better than the medicine. My GP and Pulmonologist are playing ask your mother, ask your father in this so I have given up on both of them. It isn't worth the hassle or the expense, in my opinion, and the outcome is the same right?

I am 67 years old. I smoked about 41 years so I am stage 4 copd with emphysema. I was on life support 8 years ago. I quit smoking in June of 2008 and was put on life support on December 10th of 2014. After I got off the ventilator on December the 30th, I went home and then I was put back in the hospital that January and February with Pneumonia. Then I went through 12 weeks of Pulmonary Rehab and after that I joined an adult wellness center to continue Exercising. My breathing went from 23 % in 2015 to 31% in October of 2021, when I had my last Pulmonary Function Test. Exercising is a great benefit for us. And having a lot of Faith in our Creator has been very beneficial as well.

Hi, I'm 69 with moderate/severe COPD. Had it for 10 years and I was diagnosed 2 years _after_ giving up smoking. I cycle, take my dog for 4 walks every day and do some light weight-lifting and stretching. I haven't had a single cigarette in 12 years. I eat a very healthy diet and keep an eye on the air quality at all times. I also don''t use any harsh cleaning chemicals at home and use an air purifier in my bedroom every night. I hope this advice helps someone. Above all - don't smoke!
