Firefighters & fire trucks onscene to a derelict factory fire in Birmingham. Featuring a fire Drone, a Hydraulic Ladder, 6 Pump Rescue Ladders, 3 small Pumping fire appliances, support vehicles, fire service personnel and equipment from West Midlands Fire Service.
The fire broke out in an abandoned textile factory in the Hockley / Jewellery Quarter area of central Birmingham at 3:45PM on Thursday the 5th May 2016, with flames of up to 40ft high!
Over 30 firefighters attended the incident with support from West Midlands Police, who provided cordons and road closures, and West Midlands Ambulance Service.
The blaze was in a dense block of buildings, with risk of fire spreading to nearby businesses and residences - how-ever this was prevented by West Midlands Fire Service's excellent response and quick intervention to stop the spread.
Thankfully there were no injuries.
Full detail can be read in this article;
www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/...
Which reported live as the incident occurred.
The fire was contained just before my arrival, how-ever this video shows the firefighters damping down, monitoring the incident, checking the perimeter and packing up ready to leave - as well as the awesome fairly new drone!

Great video CobraEmergency! You couldn't pay me enough to go up in the HP!! Btw, not sure if you already know, but the small Toyota appliances are called a Brigade Response Vehicles (BSVs). Thanks for showing off the work that the emergency services do 👍

Sick video, for this one you actually got the ladder appliance in action! :D Really good thing this was easily put out, unlike the forest fire spreading in Alberta right now :P Koodos to the emergency workers for this one!

+Jim the Emergency Fan 警消大頭粉 No it's not sick, if it were sick - I'd be disgusted. I am very picky ;-) Yeah it's great to get an aerial ladder in action. I know right, you ought to/ought've checked it out ;)

Lmao ok I'll stop saying "sick video"... Annnd as for the Alberta fire, even though it's under control now I still feel bad for the firefighters, they ended up losing their own homes because they were focused on saving civilians' homes :(

What an excellent job the firefighters of London did, putting that fire in control and not making it spread! + Great on scene coverage Cobra! Have yourself an Awesome* Weekend ✌

Again this isn't London. There's a lot more to the UK than London. And only 1/4 of my monthly place visits are to London. The other places are Bristol, Hereford/Worcestershire and Birmingham - which this video is filmed in, with West Midlands firefighters. Then there are the other places I visit occasionally, like Liverpool. How-ever the same applies, the firefighters did a fantastic job responding and intervening to prevent the spread of fire to a rather dense block of high risk buildings. Thanks a lot! I'm quite pleased with this video Hope you have a fantastic weekend too 😉.

Great coverage! It's too bad that there aren't many buffs / spotters who attend fires in the UK. I know it's more difficult to do so there. Keep up the great work.

+Hooks & Halligans Fire Photography Thanks! I know right, we try our best but it's very difficult - particularly for me. I live in a very rural area, so it can take me about an hour to get to these fires in the big city. This fire was an hour away from where I live, in an industrial area. There's lots of fires in this city, Birmingham, in industrial areas - so as soon as I get notified on Twitter I go ASAP! I wouldn't have gone to this, but I was out and about and I knew I could get there quite fast to get to at least film the end of the fire. In the future I aim to catch some footage of the actual fire itself. As for local fires in my rural area, they never get reported straight away on Twitter, and because the scanners are digitally encrypted, there's no way of knowing. It's only with really big stuff it gets reported on Twitter. For Roads Traffic Collisions, these regularly happen in my area and they get reported almost instantly because it causes disruption on the main routes, so I can get to these quite quickly - all though most of the time I just come across them when out and about anyway lol.

CobraEmergencyVideos Well good for you on making the call. It's a shame the UK is the way it is for these sorts of thing, or maybe it's not, I dunno lol. All I know is that I wish there was a way to listen.
