We calculated these by taking the moment of inertia as m.r^2, that is, for a point object. If what we're talking about is a sphere, we would have to use a different moment of inertia value, but everything was still calculated the same, right?

There are so many ways to derive this actually. Like taking Angular momentum = moment of inertia x angular velocity. But this method is simple.
