This is so soothing... This guy could sing a car manual, and it'd somehow still feel heartfelt.

I can think of no better way to go add magic to everyday life haha. I think actually him singing a bunch of random, non-lyrical things would make a really entertaining video!

Out of all the money that e'er I had I spent it in good company And of all the harm that ever I've done Alas it was to none but me And all I've done for want of wit To memory now I can't recall So raise to me the parting glass Good night and joy be with you all, [mmm] And if I had money enough to spend And leisure time to sit awhile There is a fair maid in this town That slowly has my heart beguilled Rosy cheeks and ruby slips She slowly has my heart enthralled So raise to me the parting glass Good night and joy be with you all And of all the comrades that e'er I had Will be sorry for my going away And of all the sweethearts that e'er I've known Who would bid me one more day to stay And as it falls onto my lot That I should rise and you should not I'll gently rise and softly call Good night and joy be with you all Good night and joy be with you all Good night and joy be with you all Hmm

I am an old man, my youngest daughter gentle and salt of the earth loves Dermott. I cannot believe with this richness in song ,tradition and delivery this man is not the main event....we love Ozzy, Alison Krause, Chapman Pavarotti and Zach Bryan to name a few. Dermott is her world. Talented beyond....wow. great taste... There's hope for this world indeed.

You played this to close out the show in Madison and I almost fell out of the balcony I was so excited! My husband had secretly been hoping you’d end on this, just to see my reaction. It was beautiful, and a perfect close to a perfect show. 💜💙🧡❤️

JAlmeida1991 aww it was beautiful, but I felt so bad for him bc it was in a big college city with 2 bars in it so people came also to just drink, so there was so much noise of people at the bar that were just loud and obnoxious that he had to talk over and I could barely hear him talk. I felt so bad. You could tell he was so tired in the first place and then had to deal with a crappy crowd. I’m embarrassed to say that it was probably a gig he really did not enjoy. ☹️ but he gave his all despite it.

Thomas Burke C/G to F/C, actually it's a Fmaj7/C, keep the high E string open. (I guess)
@thomasburke91816 жыл бұрын
kevinniederhausern Thanks so much man! Capo on 2nd I think? Sorry it just sounds soooo nice the way he's playing it
@kevinniederhausern6 жыл бұрын
Thomas Burke i'll have to play it to check, but you can play it higher or lower depending on your singing range! Just try, sing and see if it fits for you ;)!
@kevinniederhausern6 жыл бұрын
Thomas Burke so I tried, the capo goes all the way up to the 6th fret, you play the C/G, then lift up the middle finger to get a Csus2/G and then F/C. And he does a hammer on on the first fret B string sometimes when he's on the F chord.

Love this song, love Dermo but do not like this. The parting glass is a special song all by itself doesn't need people trying to make their own version, sorry.
@Anhorish4 жыл бұрын
This follows all traditional versions and it's not like there is any version definitive, not even a cappella.
