On 1st February 2023, Thorpe Park Resort announced that a new ride experience, Ghost Train, will replace Derren Brown’s Ghost Train.
In this video we take a look back at some of the promotional footage for the original version of the attraction, through to its transition into 'Rise of the Demon', along with the TV adverts for both versions, and finishing with the virtual reality end sequence that guests would experience on the ride, created by the brilliant Figment Productions.

It’s always a sad to see something go so it’s bittersweet, but hopefully they can do a better job this time round with capacity and the right experience

I am not sad to see the ride gone but I am looking forward to seeing what Thorpe Park will do with the attraction?

I really enjoyed this ride in its second guise. It was frequently broken and clearly didn't live up to the park's expectations, but it was always enjoyable in a "turn your brain off" way and the scare in the gift shop was an *incredible* moment.

The concept of the ride is actually fantastic and I was very impressed with it when I went on it. However, the reliability just let it down.

Would they release the VR footage of both the OG Train and Rise of the Demon? Really don't want them to be forever lost to time.

I went on the Ghost Train and it was honestly pretty boring I unfortunately wasn’t able to ride Derren Brown’s Ghost Train and I have heard that it wasn't the best but I wish that they closed the ride for a while to better it instead of replacing it The problems I had consisted of the scare actors to be too ridiculous for me and they story being bland an unoriginal the VR had the possibility to do the scaring much better and the original story for Derren Brown’s seemed so much more interesting then the one we have now the idea of the human race having to deal with a horrible rotting disease while the supernatural impedes any chances of any one surviving the outbreak gave the setting an interesting grungy apocalypse feel the only interesting part of the new version is the set design and the gift shop scare

That vr footage was from the og dgbt before rise of the demon, rotd was less dated and better and the physical sections were good, but overall it wouldn’t have lasted them another 2 yrs
