𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀
The most probable origin of the toponym is the Latin *díruta*, past participle of diruere, that is: demolished, ruined and landslide, steep.
From these last meanings the name Déruta seems to have originated from when the city was founded by the Perugians fleeing following the fire of Perugia, final act of the Bellum Perusinum (41-40 BC),
There are numerous testimonies of a residential presence in Roman times, all confirmed by characteristic architectural remains, such as capitals, amphorae and epigraphs, still visible today in the atrium of the Town Hall.
From the discovery of a fragment of a decorative plate from the 7th century, we can trace the presence of a flourishing and operational village already in the early Middle Ages...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

I asked around before going and everybody told me it was such a nice town but from real it was more than I expected. As i wrote in another comment minutes ago, I'm now at more than 200+ videos of towns... And so many more to do still. With time....

This is a town that is really alive. The church bells ringing. People are up and around, the stores are open with beautiful ceramics, these are the most beautiful one I have ever seen. Some towns in the Amalfi coast also make ceramics. The bicycle parade was just awesome. The local priest with the celebration is nice. Very enjoyable video. Thanks a million.

Glad to see you back here dear Esther and glad you enjoyed also this new addition... Lovely place indeed... people are going out finally - the "fear" is quite disappearing it seems too. I filmed the town of Vietri in the Amalfi coast, the fatherland of the ceramics... you can find it in the main page. It was an August walk... absolutely stunning town, many tourists as well... time flies though... 2 years ago (!) Anyway, that priest was very funny - after I stopped we chatted a bit.. one of those stories while walking... Wish you a nice weekend Esther

I think that's where I first saw the ceramics that I mentioned. Yes, people are really coming out now since covid restrictions are almost completely lifted and we should be seeing more interesting tours. You also have a good weekend.

Hi JLS, ah how I understand you... I wanted too to get in but opted to park near the main entrance and proceeded by feet. Some of those Italian towns are made for surely tiny cars or scooters and such. I could share quite a few memories of being stuck while traveling around :)

Mükemmel taş işçiliği muhteşem evler insanın gönlünden bir gün o evlerde kalmak ve o dar sokaklarda KUŞ SESİ EŞLİĞİNDE YÜRÜMEK . Замечательная прогулка! Симпатичный городок с красивой архитектурой, интересной историей и множеством маленьких магазинчиков с разнообразными восхитительными керамическими изделиями! Великолепный обзор города и окрестностей с высоты птичьего полёта! 53:38 я не знаком с творчеством этого гитариста - Carlos Santana, но судя по всему он изветсный музыкант, потому что хозяин этого магазина выставил совместные фотографии с ним👍 57:10 - современные рыцари старинного города!👍 Grazie mille Riccardo! P.S. у нас в России ещё встречаются мотоциклисты управляющие мотоциклами "Урал" с колясками, я думаю, что для итальянцев, это уже экзотика.
