A bunch of these Meme builds and the BB's will start to fear a Des Moines that looks to be closing for CQB.

That sub thing, again, sonar... ships have it too, WG seem too dumb to realise this, in any scenario, if you are a sonarman on a ship, and come across a submarine dead underneath your ship, the sonar detection would be so powerful, especially if emitting active sonar, the sonarmans ears would literally want to go on vacation.

Almost makes me want to grind DM just to try this out. For the record my absolute favorite ship to play is Harugumo. There's really nothing like spitting out 250 shells a minute before captain skills. This looks like a fun alternative.

I, too, love doing MEME type setups. I have one in particular that I think I'll keep. That would be a Georgia I can get upto 42 kns. When pushing a side, I have quickly jumped into their backfield and get within 14 km before opening up a citadel party from the rear.

I find this build to be better suited in a Salem, because of its superheal and 40 second DCP cooldown. You can yolo people in a dm like this, but you can do it even harder in a salem. I also love the fact that you are going full meme by running spotter and DFAA instead of radar/hydro lol

Some reason when I use spotter plane on my cruisers I find it hard to hit enemy ships at range. I keep shooting behind them, I have to see my shells as soon as I fire to know how much lead I need 😅

This has been my go to build since it first was realized and I have had excellent games in it. You just need to know how to play the ship!

Do have a video which shows your DM build and Commander points? I recently got the DM and have a 21-point commander. I am still grinding for Halsey. 4 stars to go in the 4th mission.

Des Moin is a little challange, but in the rigth hands, it probably the best ship in the game. I think you got those hands!😅

Spotter Build is also still a fun meme build. :D Even though the SP was nerfed, and Yuro was shunned fairly bad, he still knows how to make great videos about ships. The Strong Female Protagonist will always be my favorite build. PLUS, everyone has to remember that the Des Moines did not use to have radar, at all. Because it's actually a Mid-Long range Support Cruiser. Originally they'd stick in between the BB's and CV while raining down Fire and Brimstone.

this is my first tier 10 ship, and i run this reload build in it. goin up close island, having radar for spotting for my team. i have been having a lot of fun with it, i try to take down the enemy dds, and most of the time i manage to protect my team from dds give support firing and spot a lot of them with it.

We all should play this game this way.

I prefer USS Salem. USS Salem with reload mod can usually have a 3.5s reload with 50% HP.

A little trick Salem (DMs sister ship)can do is bring ramming flags, then extra heal. 100% of ramming damage can be healed, and thus if you ram and enemy and pop a heal, you have taken no permanent damage, and gotten a ram kill out of it. (Not practical, just funny to beat ships built to bow tank you by ramming)

Have been playing DM recenetly a lot did a 250k dmg game, was amazing fun when halsey proggs...

I think this build would work better on the Salem, because of the super heal

Though being meme build. At a wise commander would make use of it at full potential and by the mean of full potential I didn't mean the adrenaline rush part is to push it to its full capability at first priority

I like to treat my Des Moines as a pocket battleship, almost. Think of it like a mini-Montana. You're never going to citadel someone playing a real BB like Yamato except at very short range, but it's a pretty decent trade off for better consistency in the main guns.

At the beginning of a match I usually let people know I’m running a lighthouse built DM with a spotter plane and they generally call me stupid yet I tend to get on the top of the score board with the build

As the video has shown, these games are only possible because there are no CVs to ruin a Des Moines' day by playing where it's the strongest at: Close range. DM is not as popular as it used to not because it's weak, but because CVs just destroys its core gameplay.

I remember trashing all kinds of ships left right and centre with my reload DM back in 2017/2018 - good times those were. Every DM ever was running range mod (because Flamu said so duh) so people get surprised when you smash them at close range with AP. Also there were no SS and RTS CV basically couldn't touch DM so there's that. It even works this way in KOTS which is funny - in KOTS 7 I was playing for SEA #1 team vs. Russia #1 in the international finals, and I 1v1 smashed their Henri IV outside of C cap on Trap who thought he could get away venturing inside 10km of me. There's probably a video of that somewhere IDK. Unfortunately I wasn't attentive enough with all the adrenaline and forgot to ask our CV to sweep for Henri torps (yes, CV scouting torps was a thing) and ate one then expired to flooding. Our team went on to lose which was a shame - Russia #1 team was *very* professional while our team was just a ragtag of strong random players; upsetting them would have been awesome. In some senses I kind of threw that one but I did make the play in the first place so cancels out I guess? Anyways, I digress. I guess the same playstyle still works today, although I'm not sure; haven't played this game in several months. WG has taken the game I once so loved and plastered excrement all over it.

Combine the spotter plane with legend mod DM you can annoy people from max range while they can't even touch you

Des Moines is a monster, but best build needs legendary mod. It's so much more fun to run, and you can play really aggressive. I had many 3mil potential dmg games because the legendary mods allows you to dodge a lot of dmg :)

Out of interest, if you’re going to run this build, would a Salem just straight up be better? You have the exact same ship but trading radar for spotter feels better. You have the insane rn heal to make it crazy broken, too

I dont have the des Moines, I'm currently working toward the Worcester, but I do have the salem. the differences that I can see is the salem has a super heal, and only 8.5km radar with no ability to slot spotter instead. the super heal is kinda wack, cause you're not able to fully use all of them especially if you eat some ap shells. that being said, I do love playing it, even if I dont have concealment atm,

it's not kill stealing until you get a sub 20k kraken, of which I am very proud to have done.

When I had the game installed my go to ship was the Salem, i took range not reload to deal with everyone at distance. But i have had many 300k+ games in it. Nasty Nasty ship. Another great video PQ, Fuck wargaming BTW.

I once was able to hold a flank against 2 Izumo, Seattle, Hindi and fantasque "on my own" for the entire match. Got me some swearing and lots of Karma^^ Never underestimate her Guns

Spotter plane Des Monies? Surprising. I really should get better at aiming with spotting plane, i am TRASH with it. Also 203mms firing FASTER then 127mms (for reference, the gearing has like 3 second reload on its guns), THAT IS TERRIFYING! Plus hay, nothing like range mod plus spotter plane to snipe some poor fool from ACCROSS THE ENTIRE MAP!
