Desert salt lakes of Western Australia

We head across the Gibson desert with the camels loaded in the trailer to a remote salt lake called lake Ballard. Lake Ballard is a famous stopover that has artistic sculptures set amongst its landscape. It makes for a very unique place to walk camels and it’s challenging in the hight of summer. From Warburton to Menzies we cross some of the most remotest country in Australia on the way to the salt lake called Ballard.

Great stuff! Love the yarning, camels, camera work, and of course that country. This one was something of a nostalgia trip for me; 50 years ago (and more recently) I worked in nickel and gold exploration in that neck of the woods. You’re a legend Luke; enjoying every episode!

Sometimes it's easier to walk but we got there, the book called song in the desert by rm was a great read, not in publish anymore but will be floating around somewhere

I bet if Giles & Gibson had a couple of good camels like you have in this video, Gibson would've survived their journey! Im reading Ernest Giles book "Geographic Travels in Central Australia". In 1874, when Giles attemped to cross the Gibson, his horses started to die. He said, quote "Oh, how ardently I longed for a camel"

Me and my mate used to say this line when we were looking for our first camels, I retraversed two of his expeditions by camel in 2000 and in 2002 into the western deserts his books are great reads

Get one you'll love it I make my saddles and have some orders for trained camel's some I'll keep for some trecks in the future

Skin cancers are a bitch! Long sleeve solar guard fishing shirt would give much more protection than the " Jacky Howe " . Thanks for showing us a window into the outback .
