Desert Trout Fishing the Salt River AZ! (Riverside Catch & Cook)

Күн бұрынIt had been a while since I hit up the salt river, AZ. My dad and I headed out in search of stocked rainbow trout. The river was very high! This lead to some early morning struggles but we eventually figured out the fish.
The salt river is located in the desert of Arizona and is stocked with trout all the way until June! The cool river water makes these trout able to survive throughout the year. It is always fun catching limits of these tasty fish out here on the river.
Today we did a catch and cook on the salt river itself, providing a freshly caught rainbow trout to eat on the bank. Catch and cook rainbow trout is something I want to do more of because I catch so many of them!
Trout fishing in Arizona carries on all the way through the spring and summer months here. The rivers and lakes up north will begin stocking soon. The salt river trout fishing will be going strong for the next few months!
If you have time, go out and get some of the stocked desert trout here in Arizona! The salt river is stocked with them healthily! I hope you all enjoyed this riverside desert trout catch and cook!

I just moved here from Oregon but I LOVED trout fishing back there. Any advice on how to find a spot like this? Current plan is to check out where the salt intersects with the verde.

Sweet! Oregon has some awesome fishing! Everything here gets hit pretty hard. If you don’t fish right after they stock most the trout are gone unfortunately. If you look at the rec areas for the salt you may find some holdovers tho. They stock all the way through June

I miss Oregon badly. The Deschutes, Metolius, Crooked, Mckenzie and the Rogue. I miss them all.....should I keep going with lakes too

How far away is the salt river from Peoria and can u recommend any places to fish in Peoria besides rio vista and Paloma?

If the river is running again, that explains why the irrigation canals are flowing with water that looks like chocolate milk. The Granite Reef dam must be releasing rain-runoff water into the canals in my area. It's next to impossible to catch fish right now, at least for me it is.

The water is actually overflowing over granite reef right now. The salt river is flowing over Tempe town lake and all The way to the Gila River. Lots of lakes releasing water because of snow runoff

Thanks! I was using size 8 Aberdeen hook for the worm, then switched to size 10 salmon egg hook for the power eggs

Why no catch and release? Are they all hatchery trout?

All hatchery trout, stocked as a put and take river. A lot of fish holdover, but the fresh stocked ones get caught and taken home usually.

Interesting. I live in Wisconsin where most of the trout are native. We'll be visiting No AZ next month. This weekend we are going up north kayaking. Temps in the 70s, peak fall colors, gorgeous and swift river which holds trout and smallies. Maybe I'll catch a few, my wife doesn't fish.@@TheFishinMagician20

I don't understand!! I was there yesterday fished the bridge area fished sheep's crossing area way to much water every cast was moss and weeds and every branch and twig and floating wood piece would end up wrapped around your line and spoke to two other fisherman with same results. went down as far as Phon D which way unfishable water high and fast looks nothing like the calm pools almost no flow at all where your at! So what gives dude! Seriously where are you really fishing???

I got out on to ur videos by a couple of my friends and we also live in Arizona down in casa grande and we both 22 and his older brother is 24 but what do u think about fishing with us andante u can come down here and we can show u our special canals where we pull in 7 pound channel cats and the smallest we’ve gotten was a 4.5 pounder with also 2, 2.5 pounder strippers I’ve gotten out of there and a 3+ pound small mouth! It would be so crazy and cool if I could set this up with u and my 2 friends who put me on to ur videos💪🏼❤️❤️ to surprise them we fishing with the one and only FISHINMAGICIAN2.0!!!!!!!!
