The Mike Douglas Show was an American daytime television talk show that was hosted by Mike Douglas. It began as a local program in Cleveland before being carried on other stations owned by Westinghouse Broadcasting. The show went into national syndication and was moved to Philadelphia in 1965. The program remained on television until 1981. It was distributed by Westinghouse Broadcasting, and for much of its run, originated from studios at two of the company's TV stations in Cleveland and Philadelphia.

It will forever anger me that Desi does not get the same amount of credit that Lucy gets when he definitely deserves it, y’all have to remember he came to Cuba with nothing after it was taken away from him and his family in 1933 Cuban revolution I mean he went from cleaning bird cages to doing so much in the film and music industry. Don’t get me wrong this is not a hate thing for Lucy she deserves the credit but Desi does as well

I feel both of them had trauma in the upbringing - Lucy's father died when she was very young and mother was not available, left to work elsewhere w/o her children. Desi lost all financial assets when he left Cuba as a teenager - but also, it felt like both his parents left a lot to be desired. Mother and Father were self-involved people. But Desi was always good to them. His mother lived 2 years longer than he did and he left money for her to be taken care of. Both Desi and Lucy cherished the family and did what as they could for them. They both worked hard, made the best of what they had; also loved their children and loved each other - just couldn't live together.

There were reports that even during the original l Love Lucy show he had to dye his hair. It wasn't about him turning prematurely gray. Desi's hard living even then was causing him to age faster than he naturally should have. He had to dye his hair even back in the mid 1950's in order to maintain the look of an age difference between the Mertz's and the Ricardos. All of that being said Desi Arnaz was one of the all time giants/geniuses of entertainment. No doubt about it.
