Nice to see Punch as a vehicle of choice. As a owner I can say that the fact of underpowered lower gears cant be denied but trust me the higher ground clearance gives a sense of confidence of an SUV. Also the car can go on no roads like terrains for which the higher rpms on lower gears are provided. Just a say Not here to make any comparisons with other cars but as a choice on hilly regions Punch can provide that comfort and confidence that hatchbacks in that price point cant.

If you want to go anywhere in the mountains, then just observe what vehicles the locals in hills buy. In Kinnaur, Lahaul & Spiti, the vehicle of choice by locals is the simple old Mahindra Bolero 4x4 model for transport of goods, and Maruti Ignis for local household. The reason is that the Ignis has high ground clearance, has big tyres, is quite narrow and hence can easily go on narrow kacha mountain roads, there are Maruti service stations and genuine spare parts available everywhere even in remote mountain areas, has good power to weight ratio and easily climbs on steep hill roads, is quite cheap and rugged. There are large number of remote narrow mountain Kacha roads going to orchards or remote villages where fancy large 4x4 Fortuner of 50 lakhs cannot reach and where tiny rugged Ignis travels smoothly without any problem. See what locals use. A cheap Ignis is more than enough if a person wants to go from Delhi to Leh via mountains. Fancy Fortuner of 50 lakhs is actually not required, and in fact driving wide Fortuner on narrow high mountain roads is risky, because one wrong move and the vehicle tyre will be in air and Fortuner will tumble down cliff, whereas the Ignis is tiny and there is always enough space on road to easily drive the small Ignis. Kacha hill roads are too narrow for Fortuner. Also, during winters, tying chain on tyres is easy on Ignis.

The Leh trip is a trip to heaven. I was waiting for a long time after covid. And finally made it with my friends. We had a legender, harrier, xuv700, xuv300 and my nexon. We had a great time, none of our cars had any problems on our journey. The legender and harrier was the two beast

Hi, DDSRavi. I was specially pleased to see your video since I just did a similar trip from Palampur to Solang. I'm sure you also covered the Mandi to Bhuntar hill crossing of about 170Kms just 2 days ago. I was completely unaware of the terrain and was very pleasantly surprised by the engine response of the Maruti Suzuki K12 engine on my Dzire Zxi that too AGS variant. I had 3 passengers (weight equivalent of almost 4) and packed with luggage. Never did I feel the need to switch off the AC and still got an average of 14.8 Kmpl on the hill track!

Hi Sir, अभी अभी मै अपने परिवार (चार लोग) के साथ अपने Swift मे सिक्किम गंगटोक की सफर कर वापस आया हूँ। रांची से गंगटोक की दूरी लगभग 750 कि मी है। मैं अपने कार से रांची से सिल्लिगुरी तक( जो लगभग 620 कि मी है) सफर किया और वहाँ से मै टैक्सी वैगनआर द्वारा गंगटोक तक एव वापसी ब्रेजा द्वारा सिल्लिगुरी तक सफर किया। सफर के लिए मेरा छोटा बेटा बहुत उत्साहित था। विडियो भी अपलोड कर दिया जायेगा
