Yeah… it’s crazy! I did further research on Yukio only recently and it kind of blew my mind.

Because he doesn’t. The face model for Kazuya Mishima straight up only matches Kazuma Kiryu from Yakuza Kiwami; the actual face model is from a Shaw Bros actor called Derek Yee, who by the way; used to even have Kazuya Mishima’s mannerisms. Even his movie “Legend of the Bat” portrays Devil Kazuya at best. If watch the Tekken Tag Tournament commercial which influences a movie scene; in that same movie, Derek Yee also acts in it. His Tekken 2 face and Tekken 1 face clearly resembles Derek Yee at best; so it’s not Yukio Mishima. We already covered this, but one of Yukio’s novels “Confessions of a Mask” greatly portrays Goro Majima since; the guy wears a demon mask, is a homosexual simp of Kazuma Kiryu (even though he craved for a girl, after he left Makoto Makimura alone). By the way, Kara Hui from the same movie company Shaw Bros greatly inspires Jun Kazama from; you guessed it: Tekken 2. If you see it this way in reality; it’s just Kara Hui vs Derek Yee of Shaw Bros in Tekken 2. The plot only straight up follows Shaw Bros “Legend Of The Bat” and Yukio Mishima’s “Decadence of an Angel”, which I know Angel and Devil Kazuya are from. Derek Yee and Kara Hui being Kazuya Mishima and Jun Kazama respectively; that too also takes the cake. Whatever Katsuhiro Harada spouted was mostly misinformation, most of it isn’t even true. I’d know this because I watch Shaw Bros myself and know those films discuss about the supernatural events. Picture a Kazuya Mishima as a hero character “Sentimental Swordsman” of some sorts, that would be for Tekken 1, and then the Kazuya Mishima for “Legend of the Bat”, that would be for Tekken 2 (those two films has Derek Yee in the character role cast). See where I’m going? Most of it isn’t even like that afterwards. They removed Kazuya’s face from Tekken 2 to Tekken 4 because Derek Yee’s face was greatly portrayed in there.

⁠ @SD120TOMB So… you’re saying that isn’t the case? IDK, I don’t see a resemblance with Derek Yee or Kazuma Kiryu’s model though… in fact, Kiryu’s character face isn’t modelled on a real life person. I think Yukio Mishima’s face was used as a reference point for his looks and maybe some resemblances in personality; but that’s it. That’s what the devs have said. In regard to the story, Harada didn’t create this character so I guess Seiichi Ishii may have been inspired by that story you mentioned? That’s interesting, though. 🤔 But, we can agree to disagree on the face model thing. Just my opinion, though. 😅

@@fragmentedpixels Derek Yee, in my experience actually looks like him, his voice is nearly similar to Kazuya Mishima’s from Tekken 2. You wouldn’t get the same reaction with Yukio Mishima since he looks out of place with Kazuya Mishima’s face model. But thinking that Tekken was made by ex Sega developers who used to work in Sega before; I can see the connection already. If I got this right, Seiichi actually made Jin Kazama, but left Namco before Tekken 3 was completed, hence you see Jin’s clone “Ken Mishima” in a game called “Ehrgeiz”, whose company that made that was the current company Seiichi now works at. But ok. Let’s call it that.

same here. Kazuya is an interesting character since he’s not out there to prove he’s the best or challenge others - he knows he is! 😆 I like that he counters that aspect and just does things ‘cause he can, LOL.

@@fragmentedpixels Yeah it's definitely a unique twist to this kind of character. Though I must admit that I do find him a bit boring because of it as well. In Tekken 7 I just found his evil for the sake of evil aura tiresome and meaningless (in the grand scheme).To be fair though, I thought Tekken 7's story was a mess in general but that's another topic xD

⁠​⁠@@decadentgamer3108 I agree. That’s also a con ‘cause that does make him one dimensional in regard to characterisation. Yeah… Tekken 7’s story was terrible! It also didn’t help that Kazuya’s story was barely fleshed out. I don’t have much positive words for that game… such a mess! 😭

@@fragmentedpixels Haha I'm glad I'm not alone then because while I do think Kazuya has a solid and memorable design, he's also one of the dullest characters in the series because of his one dimensional personality. And I totally goofed on my comment, I meant Tekken 8's story was a mess xD I mean so was Tekken 7's but Tekken 8's was pretty gross as well lol. Kazuya was just... Don't get me wrong, the fight between him and Jin was great and I appreciate how they didn't make it easy for Jin to beat him but everything before the final showdown was just plagued with awful dialogue and writing and I felt that if I had to hear Kazuya say "pathetic" one more time, I was gonna tear my hair out because he says it so much in the story lol.

Same here. I knew of this, but when I did more research into the guy and some of the personality resemblances… it’s kind of wild! Though, it’s not as extreme. In regard to androgyny, I’d say in the earlier Tekken games (1, 2 and even Tag 1) Kazuya had a bit of an androgynous look to him. Not so much in the later games.

Maybe he didn’t say so, but he affiliated with a lot of right-wing politicians and ideals. He even founded his reactionary militia mostly from recruitments in a Japanese newspaper called Ronsō Journal... also right-wing.
