Very nice talk, thank you. Define your villain first, because is in the villain where you will define your hero; every writer and storyteller will agree on that. The reason why the yellow version of the Cowboy website didn't work out, is because you used it as a major color in the composition. In an image, yellow brings objects out of the composition and create an illusion of depth and movement, while giving warm sensations. So you use it to highlight. In painting you use it to shade light and create volume without using much gradient variations or color dirt; and in this way you remark where the attention of the eye should be and find color balance. I guess the same principles apply to digital design, since the final spectator/user is a human. The colors order were inverted in that design.
